Never mind that the underside of a mushroom is ribbed at least partially for structural purposes and this is just decoration.
I'm a bit cynical of the whole thing conceptually, but it works quite well in practice.
This is a structural sculpture. I got tired of moving it around and destroyed it in 2013. It was about 2'-6" x 0'-9".
Structurally folded, synformal, very thinly layered/laminated, basinal (deepwater), siliceous mudrocks - looking down strike of the syclinal/synformal axis. These may be synsedimentarily deformed. Abundant, loose blocks of clast-rich and clast-piece Monterey rocks, as well.

Premier SIPS Help Create a Tight, Well-Insulated Building Envelope for Finn Hill Junior High
The SIP panels will help the school district reduce energy costs, and allow for smaller, more cost-effective mechanical systems. Reducing heating and cooling consumption was critical for the building’s “net-zero energy ready” design, meaning that the potential area for the roof-mounted solar panels is sufficient to power all the school’s needs. The school will open with one of the largest solar panel installations in the state.

First responders from across the country were in Virginia Beach for a massive structural collapse training exercise hosted by the Virginia Beach Fire Department and Virginia Task Force 2. The annual School was held at the sprawling complex of crawl spaces and staged disaster zones representing different scenarios – things first responders have seen and experienced first-hand. This course gives urban search and rescue teams a chance to practice their skills. More than 160 people took part in the hands-on training lasting for 8 days with students coming from as far as San Francisco, California, Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Delaware.

ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – Douglas Shimmin, 97th Civil Engineer Squadron lead firefighter, hammers through a concrete slab during a structural collapse exercise at the base training pit, Aug. 3, 2012. Trainers from Tech-ResQ evaluated Members from the 97th CES fire department on an advanced structural collapse exercise, which helped the firefighters stay current on their training. The exercise simulated a collapsed building in which the firefighters had to cut holes in walls, floors and ceilings to access them. Structurally folded sedimentary rocks in the Cambrian of Tennessee, USA.
The folded rocks shown here are part of the Rome Formation (Middle Cambrian). Folds (and faults) are common in mountain belts formed by tectonic collision - this example is in the Appalachian Mountains, which formed by collision between Africa and North America during the Pennsylvanian. This ancient mountain-building event is called the Allegheny Orogeny. The supercontinent Pangaea formed at this time.

The ceilings are Glulam beams, and 2x8 Douglass Fit T&G. We whitewashed all the components before framing and installing. The GLB's are spaced at 4'-0". The purlins are there as a T&G nailer, and to hide the light fixture wiring.
110 stories tall, its black aluminum and bronze-tinted glass exterior has become emblematic of Chicago. Its innovative structural design laid the foundation for the supertall buildings being built today.
Architect Bruce Graham and structural engineer Fazlur Khan utilized the bundled tube system for the building to resist heavy wind loads. This structural system would prove highly influential in skyscraper construction. It has been used in most supertall buildings since then, including the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa.
Across from Willis is 311 South Wacker Drive with its distinctive crown inspired by the top of the Tribune Tower.
