The local neighbourhood cat hangs out on the same corner most days, and he's a total slut for being stroked. He lounges around inviting passers-by to come and pet him, and makes lots of friends who say hello and give him a rub behind the ears. I'm clearly not the only one who's made friends with him, as today I saw someone had written this on the wall where he can usually be found (though when I took this photo he was a bit further along, in the shade, though he padded over to nuzzle me and coax me to give him some strokes once I'd put the phone away.....)

and with a single stroke,

the stroke was complete.

A stroke of yellow in a purple cloudy sky.

It's hard to realise that sky can be purple coloured until you make photos like this. WB here is set to Daylight/Sunny, which is as neutral as neutral can get.

Portrait photos of Joey Strokes. Parkour athlete and actor. We added his long time girlfriend into the shoot at the end of the day for some romantic couple shots.

Lighting: Profoto B2 we used a single head and switched up between OCF Grid, bare head, and zoom reflector. I would have liked to have used the OCF Octobox but we had a strong wind all day making it a bad choice for the conditions.

When we went to the Grand Rapids ArtWalk last year, Ellie got a chance to pen her Chinese name, Xiao Bai, using traditional calligrapher's brushes. This is but a detail from that sheet.

Until this year, Ellie's schooling consisted of half-days in Chinese-immersion language study. For fully half of each and every school-day, all she heard from her teacher was pure Mandarin Chinese.

We had high hopes for her language-acquisition, but then we moved. The Bellingham/Lynden area has no such language-immersion programs.

But the change may be for the best… the part of the day that Ellie spent learning in Chinese included her math class—and to this day, this is the subject area that she struggles with the most. She's catching up, slowly, but it's hard for her to be so bright yet be so far behind her peers.

We're working on it.

This is an extreme close-up (as they would let me) of a Monet painting of some water lilies. It is on display in San Antonio in the McNay Museum.

Monet is one of my favorite artists (Dali being my absolute favorite). This was part of a series called Water Lilies, and was painted circa 1916-1919. He painted many of these as practice, and this is from one of those.

What is great about the McNay Museum is that you can take photos (without flash), and can get up to "12-18 inches" away from them. The guard got nervous on this one and thought I was closer, but I wasn't- 15 megapixels and a good, stable lense helps a lot.

Twenty members of the Toronto Triathlon Club came out for our second Swimming Skills Clinic at the North Toronto Memorial Community Centre pool. Ayesha Rollinson (ITU racer and TTC swim coach) and Kyle Smerdon (2000 Olympic Team member) provided stroke analysis and led us through stroke improvement drills.
