Strobist: AB1600 with gridded 60X30 softbox overhead. AB800 open behind backdrop of white faux suede.Triggered by Cybersync.
Strobist: The camera, mounted on a tripod, is on manual and set to the synchro shutter speed, f11 or so and ISO 100. This way under exposes for the natural light on the flower. The flower was lit by radio triggered, hand held, Canon 430EX II manually set to 1/64. I move the flash around on successive shots to vary the lighting on the subject. Since the camera and the flower don't move I have the option of combining shots with HDR software.

For strobists: Canon 580EX on camera left. Triggered with a Canon ST-E2 infrared transmitter. Between the strobe and the model is a large self made translucent light panel (just out of the frame).
After watching the truly inspirational Dean Collins DVD's, I decided to make my own 2x1 meter light panel out of PVC tubing. I bought the translucent fabric from my camera store.

Strobist: Upended cardboard box with hole cut in the (now) top, Canon 430ex flash on 1/64 power lying on its back under the box, lined up underneath the hole; upended pyrex dish to bridge the hole while allowing the light thrhough; 4 sheets white paper to diffuse and attenuate the flash shooting directly up into the base of the paperweight on top of the pyrex. Cactus triggers. I'm thinking there must be a simpler way :-)
I suppose it would have sounded more impressive if I'd claimed it was white blood cells or something ;-)
