I love the bokeh that christmas lights give. I had to take this picture! This was actually above my door in my room (if you notice the wood border at all) I just love the colors that these lights show off.

Wow, this is pretty shoddy.
I wish I had enough time to take a better picture but it was really dark and spooky even though it wasn't cold. Also, it took me 7 extension chords to get from the garage outlet to the tree through a window, goodness gracious.

One aspect of photography that I love are people who see lines, symmetry and shapes in anything and everything. They can see a simple staircase and frame it perfectly so it looks like art.
I don't know if I have that talent. I have no idea if I'll ever develop it. I don't necessarily "see" that way too well. Now, if you want to ask me how best to frame a storm cloud, I can help you out.
This is kind of a different image for me. Well, not kind of, it just is. No major post processing, no multiple brackets. I was outside practicing some fill-flash with my little girl when I looked up and saw these cool clouds that suddenly made an appearance. We have string lights up ever since Lyla's 2nd birthday back in November and I just liked how they criss-crossed against the sky.
I get so consumed by waiting for the big storms, the big weather, the cool abandoned dog track...that I forget a picture taken just a few feet from my back porch can make me just as happy.

My BFF sent my Mom a birthday gift with battery operated "happy birthday" lights and she loves them. So fun!
My day had started at Attingal some 7hr away and after attending a wedding, I had sat through a long trip to Trichur by car. It was past 01:00 now. I was hot, sweaty, tired, sleepy but excited- I was having a great time, despite my marked dislike for large crowds. I asked someone to take a shot of me against the gaily decorated temple as a couple walk past with their kid, unmindful of the photography in progress. In most places people have the courtesy to pause or at least walk around.I do it all the time as well. Oh well. Florida Av, Peaks Island in Casco Bay, Portland, Maine USA • This Saturday was the annual (secret) Sacred & Profane Festival: This cracked me up; and it never even occurred to to check (as the walls are 12-feet thick or more of concrete). – All going on as always, at Battery Steele (1942), also known as U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Battery Construction #102, a United States military fortification, completed in 1942 as part of World War II, it is located on 14 acres (5.7 ha) on the oceanside area of the island. It is named for Harry Lee Steele, who was a coastal artillery officer during World War I. It was built to protect Casco Bay, particularly Portland harbor, from Kennebunk to Popham Beach in Phippsburg. – from Wikipedia. ~ It's now one of thirteen island parcels owned and managed by the Peaks Island Land Preserve
• Portland and the other harbors of southern Maine were terribly important ports. Civil War forts still dotted the islands around these harbors, but Portland now needed far more advanced fortifications to protect it from German attack.
So Peaks Island became home to over eight hundred soldiers. Concrete bunkers and observation posts are everywhere. On the far side of the Island are two huge abandoned gun turrets separated by several hundred feet of underground tunnel. Each held a monster 16-inch naval gun. The guns were test-fired only once. Their blasts broke windows all over the island and the recoil, transmitted through rock, caused small earthquakes. Week 43
The road trip to the party. I started this week off in Atlanta shooting a commercial for work. This was another one of those jobs that had us working on a beautiful golf course all day. There is something so amazing about these golf courses that I get to see. The scenery is so perfect that sometimes you almost can't believe your eyes. The job went well as usual and as soon as we wrapped we were back on the road heading home. We made it back on Wednesday night, just in time to help set up the office party for Friday. This was my first time going to one of these office parties due to me finally being of age. It was pretty amazing and I had a wonderful time though it is weird to watch a bunch of co-workers and people you have known your whole life to go completely crazy. On Saturday, the day after the party, I headed out with Eric, bought a new film camera, and shot some sunset scenes with him. Scott joined us later in the night and we ended up buying some pixie lights and tried to mimic the famous Instagram look that everyone likes to do. I think they turned out pretty cool!
I can't wait to see what this next week will bring!
November 28
Today I learned that the day after Black Friday is now called Small Business Saturday. Seems like a good excuse to go to the DIME Store to me! Emily and I floated around in search of potential Christmas presents, but it was pretty clear that we waited to long to show up.
From there, we headed to Dallas for some tasty Mexican food with Brandon. During the meal he mentioned some kind of craft show going on today at the Community brewery, also in honor of Small Business Saturday. We ended up hitting that up after lunch, and it turned out to be a super cool thing! Brandon’s friend had a booth there selling amazing furniture and some cool lamps. I also ran into FOUR people from high school: James Stephen, Travis Damerau, Garrett Vandergriff, and Ashleigh (Abbott) Papania! And I only forgot two of their names, so that’s good, right? To be fair, the lot of them is almost completely unrecognizable. We did get to spend some time catching up; enough to where Emily had to drag me away. It was good seeing you peeps!
After a less-than-quick trip to North Park Center, we headed home. During our outing, I got a text from my mom, who had been trying to buy me a Christmas present but was having trouble with the purchasing process. I have a hard time putting reasonable items on my list, which is how my mom ended up trying to buy an After Effects plugin. Long story short, I got my early Christmas present SUPER early this year, and by the end of the evening I had created my very first walk cycle for a character I built with RubberHose. Thanks Mom! Sorry I’m difficult to shop for. :D
