The ukulele ( /ˌjuːkəˈleɪliː/ ew-kə-lay-lee;[1]from Hawaiian: ʻukulele [ˈʔukuˈlɛlɛ]), sometimes abbreviated to uke; is a member of the guitarfamily of instruments; it generally employs fournylon or gut strings or four courses of strings.[2]The ukulele originated in the 19th century as a Hawaiian interpretation of the machete,[3] a small guitar-like instrument related to the cavaquinho, braguinha and the rajao, taken to Hawaii byPortuguese immigrants. It gained great popularity elsewhere in the United States during the early 20th century, and from there spread internationally. The tone and volume of the instrument varies with size and construction. Ukuleles commonly come in four sizes: soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone.
The Perils of PicStrum, a silent film episodic serial, is considered the most famous suspense serial in cinema history. PicStrum was the most famous star of the silent serials, known for their archetypal cliffhangers that left audiences wondering what would happen in the next chapter.
Picstrum's most famous stunt - in which it was tied to railroad tracks and had to be rescued from a speeding, rapidly-approaching train - was filmed in Lancashire, at a place now known as "PicStrum's Trestle". Unfortunately, a copy of this episode has never been located and only a few frames still exist.
My sister is opening another music school and I've promised to take some violin pictures to be hanged on the wall. Hopefully this set of pictures is good enough. :)
