Various rooms and portraits inside Dr Johnson's House.

The building was bought by the MP Cecil Harmsworth in 1911. It was in a derelict state. He and Emile Harmsworth restored it, and it was open for the public in 1912. They places it into a Trust.

This is the third and final floor room in Dr Johnson's House. Just interesting portraits up here worth taking, and a model toy workshop.

Nothing to do with Johnson. Think the house was used during the war, to help care for soldiers or something. Some men playing on string instruments such as violins etc.

The sarangi is an Indian string instrument played with a bow.

The abbey church, whose clarity brings out the purity, was built in the twelfth century, and remained in a remarkable state of preservation.

The abbey estate, dominated by the imposing lantern tower covers seven hectares.

The Benedictine abbey was built in the twelfth century on a site which succeeded since the first century BC several buildings dedicated to pagan worship and Christian worship.

The chapter house of the late twelfth, presents a remarkable collection of statues-columns and capitals.

The monastic building built by the monks Maurists the seventeenth century, has retained its elegant stone vaults.
