The weather has been bad lately and I have not been out taking photos so, here is one I took a while ago.
This is my "don't mess wif me" face. And I mean it too!
I call myself Mistress to Cap'n Jack of the High Seas. We command our own pirate ship and we have taken on ( conscripted) lots of kitties who heave that barge and tote that bale for our ship when we are at sea and when we come into the harbor. I know one look of my stink eye and seeing that I have a black satin patch over my other eye keeps them all in submission and obedience while Cap'n Jack is plundering or burying treasure (it IS treasure you're burying isn't it my love?) in the sand!!

The past week had been very crazy, so the little weekended I had up north was a fitting end. Finally had the chance to visit Anawangin Cove in Zambales. The place has a surreal feel, and going there feels like stepping into a foreign place. It's very easy to find a picturesque beach lined with coconut trees here in the Philippines, but never have I seen a beachfront full of pine trees. Pine trees!
It's not that we don't have pine trees here. It's just highly unusual, growing up as a tropical island girl, to be seeing pine trees when you're not in Baguio. I guess I just had to realize that this place is maybe that special, and just soak in its magic, even if it takes me a moment or two.

We've been hiking a new trail near our house called the Mattatuck trail. Just north of the Shepaug Reservoir a small stream runs into the Shepaug River and its low angle and slow enough that in our recent cold snap it developed a lot of great ice formations.
I shot over 100 still images on this small stream but also decided to experiment with video on my iPhone. I'm new at this and so, my panning skills aren't great but these short videos will give you a taste of what it's like on this small stream.
I'm pretty sure the bird in the background is a crow that was annoyed at our presence.
I spent an hour rock hopping up about 50 yards on this stream, taking pictures and making these crude videos. It was great.
Blashford Lakes, near Ringwood in Hampshire, UK. The Dockens Water stream flows through the Hampshire Wildlife Trust reserve and is bounded by ancient woodland of oak and beech.

I wanted you to see the mill stream after it left the mill area. I love this portion of the waterway - it just gurgles along. This is across the road from the miller's house.
