An edit of a photo I took in the summer of 2006 with my then-new Canon EOS 30D DSLR and its "better" kit lens, the EF-S 17-85mm F/4-5.6 IS USM. This was my first second go with Pixelstyle Photo Editor. I used the artistic "Cartoon" artistic filter and adjusted the settings until I got something I liked. The app is neat and free(!) but it definitely updates the preview image sluggishly. One cannot have everything.
Taken in Wittenberg a hamlet of Woodstock, NY at Kenneth Wilson State Campground. This stream leads into Yankeetown Pond a larger stream that was damned to make the pond.

The unusually warm Christmas meant the girls could spend time repurposing Grandpa and Grandma's back yard - from young forest growth to rooms and dungeons. I got in trouble multiple times for walking through walls (note the lines of bricks and logs - don't cross!). We had a sweet time in West Virginia.
I've been making this soy milk recipe for a year, but somehow today it was more delicious than ever before! Why?? Perhaps newly bought ingredients (baking powder, baking soda, AP and WW flour); or combination of changes (brown sugar mixed with wet ingredients instead of white with dry, melted butter instead of vegetable oil, 2x eggs); or everything is more delicious with a Ph.D.?

A re-edit of a photo I took over 15 years ago with my then-new Canon EOS 30D DSLR and its "better" kit lens, the EF-S 17-85mm F/4-5.6 IS USM. Revisiting the image, I made adjustments and applied a lookup table in Luminar 4 then I loaded it into Photoshop for some further tweaking.
This is a study of backlit new leaves on a potted Mission Fig tree.
I think the cascading rainbow effect in the late afternoon sun is amazing... I find this interesting, fascinating, and beautiful... I wonder if it's the result of diffraction by the lens or sensor coatings... It could be lens flare and multiple internal scatterings in the camera module... Probably a combination... Good example of physical optics phenomena. I would like to be able reproduce the effect in the future in a controlled fashion...;))
Hmmm... maybe a flashlight would work... Can't use an LED because the light spectrum is more limited...
