Colourful sail straps hanging orderly in girth hitches on a handrail. These are mainly used to secure reefed sails, or sometimes other parts of deck equipment. Masuria, Poland, 2009.

This is the Arrack Strap, a cocktail created by Brad Farran in 2012 for Death & Company in Manhattan, New York City. Some cocktails are a delicate balance of flavors, holding back stronger flavors so not to dominate quieter flavors. This cocktail is like a heavyweight title fight in a glass, strong flavors competing against strong flavors. The two main contenders are Batavia Arrack Van Oosten and Cruzan Blackstrap rum. The former is funky and pungent, like a jamaican rum (no molasses though, it's fermented from sugarcane and red rice). The latter is a molasses bomb. It's the blackest black rum I've ever had. Typically it's used more as a modifier than a base spirit, but not here. The rest of the cocktail is built out like a Manhattan with sweet vermouth and bitters. A tiny bit of Campari and demerara syrup are utilized to bring adjust the mouthfeel and add depth to the cocktail. The whole cocktail is rich, funky, and complex; a great nightcap for those feeling adventurous.
1 oz Batavia Arrack Van Oosten
1 oz Cruzan Blackstrap rum
1 oz sweet vermouth (Farran uses Cocchi)
1 tsp Campari
0.5 tsp demerara syrup
2 dashes Bittermens Xocolatl Mole bitters
2 dashes orange bitters
Combine all of the ingredients into a mixing glass. Add ice and stir until arctic cold. Strain into a chilled rocks glass over a single large ice cube. Garnish with an orange peel.

I tried to walk past. I tried to think "no, I don't need them". But they called out to me and demanded to be bought. They are "sling back" which I have never really liked, and which is what made me really think twice, but the amazing shape, and the lovely straps, the beautiful texture and shine. Just had to have them.
I decided new sheer pantyhose and a new skirt would probably be appropriate to wear with them.
Since taking up full-frame photography, I have found the Canon 35mm F2.0 IS USM to be a great all purpose lens. View other shots taken with this lens here.

Strobist details: So, there's a Godox AD200 into a softbox to the right, then I added a pair of TT600's with blue gels right next to each other so that they'd cycle a bit faster.. And then there's another salmon gel on the TT600 on the ground pointed upwards. All four of those were triggered by the XProO in my hotshoe

A close shot of this shiny handbag. Another small glimpse here.
The foreground is a shoulder strap (showing its age these days). The bokeh balls are reflections off the shiny purse body itself.
