I decided to strain a few bottles through cheesecloth to see how that would improve the texture, and it made a huge difference. All this extra okara is out of just one bottle of soy milk!

Live brewer's yeast strain for making Hefeweizen. Taken with a 100x objective (oil immersion 1.32NA) on a Leitz Orthoplan microscope equipped with a trinocular head so I could mount my camera. Not super sharp as it is a poor condenser for this power of objective, and they are in liquid so were still moving around. Each budding yeast mother cell is about 5-6 micrometers across (5-6/1000s of a mm). They like to grow in clumps- lots of brewing yeast strains are flocculent like this as it helps them settle out quicker at the end of fermentation.

This is some serious hardware. Large strain clamp takes on a different dimension when isolated from the visual complexity of a power station.
This is one of the two borehole sites that were maintained by ETH Zurich and Hokkaido University on Bowdoin Glacier from 2014 to 2017. This photo illustrates well the challenge or drilling on the terminal tongue of a tidewater glacier. As the glacier flows feet in the ocean, buoyancy forces from sea water counteract the weight of the ice. This causes the glacier to accelerate and stretch in the direction of flow. Crevasses seem to pop out of nowhere, sometimes dangerously close to our instruments.
