I thought to upload something different, my travel photography for change. It's one of my fond memories. :-))

Trivia. The list of celebrities visiting Stradun is reportedly growing...It's just been on TV news tonight - the German pack leader Bastian Schweinsteiger seen relaxing in a Dubrovnik's Old City fish restaurant today hosted by the Croatian football team selector Robert Kovač...The rest of the "Elf" expected to follow next year...:)

Stradun is the main street of historic Dubrovnik, inside defensive walls. Currently, it is a pedestrian street lined with marble slabs, about 300 meters long. In the past it was a wetland channel that separated Ragusa from forest settlement of Dubrava before they were connected in the 13th century. Stradun connects west entrance called the Pala Gate (Vrata od Pila) with the Ploče Gate (Vrata od Ploča) at the eastern end of city. At west end of pedestrian street there is the so-called Great Onofrio's Fountain from 15th century and the belfry of Franciscan monastery. At eastern end is Clock Tower and Little Onofrio's Fountain.

Had a chance to visit the gorgeous medieval citadel of Dubrovnik, Croatia. Dubrovnik is a city in southern Croatia fronting the Adriatic Sea. Paved with limestone, the pedestrianized Stradun (or Placa) is lined with shops and restaurants. For "Game of Throne" fans, this is also known as King's Landing.

the title is a reference to Star Wars

In March 2016, just a week before this photo was taken, Dubrovnik's main street, called Placa or Stradun (in the photo), was the set of the latest Star Wars instalment (Episode VIII). While in Game of Thrones Dubrovnik served as the setting for the capital of "King’s Landing", one of the fictional kingdoms in the series, in the upcoming Star Wars episode (scheduled for cinemas in Dec. 2017), the "Pearl of the Adriatic" will be an exotic hub of the Star Wars galaxy.

The main street is normally packed with people but if you manage to get up with the sunrise, you'll be rewarded with this view.

Well, it’s not all sunshine and blue skies in Dubrovnik… this was the view from our hotel window on our first day there. (The red umbrellas, by the way, were provided by a tour company, and were about the only dash of colour we saw that day!)

Stradun or Placa (Stradone or Corso) is the main street of Dubrovnik, Croatia. The limestone-paved pedestrian street runs some 300 metres through the Old Town, the historic part of the city surrounded by the Walls of Dubrovnik.

This is Stradun, the beautiful and well-trodden limestone-paved main street which runs the length of Dubrovnik’s Old Town. It’s been pedestrianised for some 50 years now and is all the better for that. It’s stuffed with cafés, bars and tourist shops.

Stradun has been the city's main thoroughfare since the 13th century, and its present appearance dates from 1667, the year of the devastating earthquake in which most of the buildings in Ragusa (as Dubrovnik was then called) were destroyed.

The Libertas flag in a very late night breeze...

That one was taken during my last year's visit to Dubrovnik... somewhat earlier in the year....just thought it would fit to my recent Dubrovnik series nicely to try and continue the story of the stone and the times gone by, and of a never-ending glory...:)

;))... This place can boast of hosting many world famous names, royalities, actors, politicians.. amongst them on 15th July 2014, German Chancellor Angela Merkel is visiting here.
