I needed a pin cushion that I wouldn't loose, that the ferrets wouldn't steal, that would be "clutter", and that was on hand when I needed it. A little hang up pin cushion was the solution! I sure do love it!

NEW PANTRY! I spent a lot of time and a bit of money trying to get organized.
I bought some glass canisters with chrome screw-on lids from the dollar store and transferred all those baggies and plastic packages and pasta boxes over to the canisters. I made cute little labels for each bottle to tell me the contents. I'll be the first to admit that this isn't the most practical storage solution... where are the cooking instructions? Nutritional info? In some cases, I cut off that information and put it inside the back of the bottles so I could refer to it. Also, I'm not exactly how well sealed the jars are - we'll see how they hold up in terms of keeping the innards fresh. But they sure do look pretty!
Also, I bought some bsakets for organizing all the bagged snack items I like to keep on hand, instead of trying to stuff them together on the shelf and hoping they don't fall. This will make it easier to pack snacks for the day, too... I can just pull out the baskets and quickly see what I've got to choose from.
I found some smaller baskets on clearance for $1.60 at Wicker Emporium. Unfortunately they are bright green. I briefly thought about dyeing them before realizing they have cardboard inside them. So they will remain green... whatever. Beggars cannot be choosers. Anyway, I hung little tags on each basket so I can quickly see the contents of the baskets without pulling each one out.
Recycling is the aspect of this pantry that's really going to be a challenge. I am very environmentally-conscious and try to recycle everything. This can get out of hand in a small space. I used to hang big recycling bags on the wall and take them out when they were full. I've now put a couple of milk crates on the floor with bags in them, and will try to make that work. I also rigged up a little cardboard sleeve out of a box I had on hand to hold recyclable paper until I can take it out.

We used to sell larger versions of these beautiful paper storage boxes from PLUS, the series is called Living Post which is very good for organizing your home and work desktop. This year they released a smaller version which is also cheaper at about HK$98 per piece. Instantly they became our top sellers in Xmas.
Most people have their stationery stuffed in a drawer without classification and eventually a lot of them are not used on regular basis, they are just lying there to be thrown away one day. The problem is, like most of your other stuffs, that without organization, things are not being used to their potential and this is such a waste.
So instead of putting stuffs in drawers, Living Post offers to have your gears accessible on your desktop. Yes you have to create a space for such storage boxes but the payback is guaranteed. You make things beautiful so that they become useful.
I now use a square orange box to store clips, craft related stuffs such as MT masking tapes, leather tools. The large drawer is just the right size for postcard or 4x6 photos, a calculator, Field Notes and Moleskine pocket size notebook fit perfectly well inside. My other narrow black box is used for photo related stuffs such as shutter release, 35mm film canisters, tapes, etc. It also serve as a place to put miscellaneous or temporary stuffs.
The Living Post drawers are tiny but enough. If you are not a stationery freak, chances are you will find it useful in your own ways. Say for storing daily cosmetic stuffs, for a dedicated place to store all your keys and cables, etc.
I wish they have a version with wood pattern which fits perfectly with my desktop theme at home.

Built by Fortuna Catamarans of South Africa, this is the luxury model called an "Island Spirit Elegante". Most "Island Spirits" are used within the charter yacht market around the world due to their spacious internal design & layout, but this one has always been a private vessel.
The vessel features full walk-around decks, a large easily accessible aft deck, wide sugar scoops and enormous storage solutions. It makes an ideal live-aboard long distance cruising home for serious sailors, and is fitted with a taller, stronger double spreader rig, bigger self-tailing winches for single-handed operation and more powerful 23hp diesels. Higher graded deck gear is also fitted, and no expense has been spared with the electronics. She also boasts larger "mini keels" for added stability and ease of careening. Ample power is on hand with new batteries, solar panels and a wind generator. Water is no problem with a 70 litre per hour water maker installed.
Internally there are four double cabins and two toilets / showers, and the fully equipped galley is large providing plenty of bench space, and the large saloon wraps around a solid wooden table. A large cockpit at the rear provides an excellent entertainment area.

The City of Laredo came together for an inspiring evening as Mayor Dr. Victor Treviño delivered the 2025 State of the City Address on Thursday, January 23, at the Guadalupe & Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center at Laredo College. Attendees were welcomed at 6:00 PM for a networking hour in the Visual & Performing Arts Center lobby, followed by the main event at 7:00 PM.
The address highlighted Laredo’s progress in 2024, focusing on key achievements, the city’s financial health, and the Mayor’s vision for 2025. Mayor Dr. Treviño emphasized the importance of unity, innovation, and resilience as pillars for the city’s ongoing success.
Mayor Treviño began by reflecting on 2024’s accomplishments, made possible through the dedication of city employees, community leaders, and residents. Among the highlights were implementing major infrastructure projects, advancements in public health initiatives, and enhanced binational relations.
“This past year, we have shown what is possible when we work together toward shared goals,” Mayor Dr. Treviño said. “Our efforts to improve infrastructure, expand economic opportunities, and foster public health have created a stronger foundation for the future.”
The Mayor acknowledged the tireless work of the City Council and employees, including City Manager Joseph Neeb and his leadership team. The administration’s focus on professional management has been critical to delivering high-quality services and ensuring operational efficiency.
Mayor Treviño highlighted Laredo’s robust financial standing. The city’s general fund balance stands at $54.9 million, with a consolidated annual budget nearing $1 billion. Notably, 2024 marked the 21st consecutive year without an increase in the property tax rate, which decreased by three cents to $0.51 per $100 valuation. The city also earned prestigious awards for excellence in financial reporting and budget presentation.
As a former health authority, Mayor Treviño reaffirmed his commitment to improving public health. Programs such as “Walk with the Mayor” and “Juntos for Better Health” targeted obesity, mental health, and substance abuse. Through these efforts, Laredo achieved a 52% reduction in drug-related deaths from 2023 to 2024. The city’s innovative wastewater surveillance and air quality monitoring programs earned national recognition, enhancing preparedness and public health outcomes.

Addressing the city’s water challenges, Mayor Treviño outlined a comprehensive plan to modernize aging infrastructure and secure additional water sources. Collaborations with local, state, and federal partners have been instrumental in addressing these critical needs. The Mayor also announced initiatives to improve water conservation, including potential storage solutions involving Lake Casa Blanca.
With Laredo serving as the #1 port of entry in the Western Hemisphere, Mayor Dr. Treviño emphasized the importance of binational collaboration. The expansion of the World Trade Bridge and ongoing discussions about the Colombia Solidarity Bridge highlight Laredo’s commitment to maintaining its position as a global trade leader. The Mayor also praised law enforcement agencies for ensuring Laredo’s status as one of the safest cities in the nation.
The evening concluded with the 2nd annual Icon Awards presentation, honoring individuals and organizations that have brought distinguished Laredo through their achievements. Mayor Dr. Treviño congratulated the awardees and thanked them for their contributions to the city’s success and reputation.
Mayor Dr. Treviño’s vision for 2025 focuses on continued economic growth, infrastructure investment, and public health advancements. He called on residents to remain engaged and committed to building a prosperous future.

This all happened again this morning. Copied some stuff. Drives passed Disk Utility "Verify Disk" test.
Copied some more data off. Came back to my Mac with a Finder error -36 alert window. Uh oh. Error -36 = read/write error.
Not good.

It's called Azimut 75. But when you go aboard you'll find that “floating home” comes more naturally. Why? Just make yourselves comfortable in the living area. The finely understated interior design creates an extremely sophisticated environment that draws on the contemporary loft space for its inspiration. A close eye for detail and skilfully contrasting materials convey an especially modern aesthetic: cream coloured natural fabric and black leather for the sofas, wood and crystal for the dinette table and rectangular geometrical inlays for the other furniture. Which is why, when you look through the large windows, you'll be even more surprised to see the sea slip past outside.
The helm station occupies almost the entire width of the yacht, featuring a control panel incorporating touch screen technology. Skilful optimisation of the design also frees up space for a sofa and a large work table. The helm station is separated from the living area by rice paper panels to allow the light to filter freely through.

The wood and steel galley setting can be fitted with a fridge, a freezer, a dishwasher and a waste disposer. Fitted sliding panels can be closed to separate the two areas or opened to exploit the full space.

I haven't been able to stop thinking about handmade storage solutions, thanks to the Sewing Room Swap! I referred to Oh, Fransson's Stack & Nest Quilted Blocks free pattern, but with one less layer of interfacing and a lot less quilting, it looks a little bit rounded...But I love it anyway, and I loved being able to use up a lot of previously idle scraps! Of course, I owe the inspiration for the QAYG patchwork directly to Amy.
