I finally got around to filling in these horrible holes in my steps. You can see the temporary spray sealant I tried using at first; it didn't stick too well.
The squirrels have become paranoid and bulked up for the season and the winds from the North warn us of impending weather change and yet the white stuff that comes with winter just won't fall. If it is going to be cold, at least give us Northerners the powdery goodness that is tied along with it. I sit here waiting for the flakes to fly.

Surviving Guide Stone on an UC road, in parish of BRADFIELD (SHEFFIELD District). Located at Handsome Cross, Penistone Road , positioned near White Lee Moor plantation on North side of road. Made of stone in a design referred to as Bradfield Stoop. Erected by Bradfield Parish in the 18th century. Inscription reads; PENISTON / R 5 M : LC / PD / Ipi7 : Bradfield / R 1 M / 1753 : Sheffield / R 6 M / :Grade II Listed. NGR: SK 260 942: Milestone Society National ID: YS_XBRA03 (see turnpikes.org.uk) (primary survey by CM). There has been much speculation on the meaning of the letters R M on these Bradfield Stoops (e.g. Road Miles). I believe they are the initials of the Parish Surveyor who caused these stoops to be erected (this stoops carries the initials of Surveyors and another date 17x7). The numerals are mileages but are Customary miles (ie a local measure) not Statute miles.
