Stoop, Boerum Hill, Brooklyn

10 ft x 4 ft x 1 ft steel box frame with stretched machine knit acrylic yarn situated on a stoop in Upton on the corner of Fremont and Lafayette.

 

While the project originally began as a formal consideration of the abandoned stoop, upon further critique, it became clear that this is the predicament of access and imposition of all street art essentiallized to its most basic form.

what can i say, we are very urban

I saw this at a stoop sale today in Brooklyn and had to have it. I'd be interested in finding out more about the artist if anyone could help me out. The guy I bought if from said he bought it from the artist about 30 years ago. More pictures in the comments section...

Curving brick stairway welcomes...

Emporio village on Santorini has the remains of an old Venetian Castle amid its fascinating narrow streets and alleyways, and new dwelling places have been merged into the older ruins to great effect. This old entrance was in one of the twisting, quiet deserted little alleyways in the very heart of the maze of corridors that exist there.

Valentine has some blueberries on the stoop in the backyard. Bobby baby is one of her favorite dolls.

Not actually my stoop, not actually a kid, but that doesn't mean SL doesn't feel exactly like this some days. Sitting out front, watching the world go by, trying to figure people out without saying a word.

I made the 800km singe-way to the velodrome in Falun, the only one in Sweden. Teamed up with Komet Club Roleur and had a hell of a time!
