a $5 stool from IKEA. I'm doing it for my henna booth. Not crazy about how it turned out. I used mystery henna and the texture was really bad and I had clogs galore, despite sifting and straining. I just hope it stains well.
Hand built wood child's stool with a precious hand painted elephant. She's almost done. All she needs is the glossy top coat! See photostream for other shots of the sides. The stool has been stained with a rich olive green stain. Photo doesn't show how glorious that stain looks!
We bought this stool at least 20 years ago, maybe more from an old man near Greta NSW. It's very strong and versatile, we've used it in all sorts of ways. I used it for years in the bathroom when the kids were babies and little - sitting down low next to the bath; it's been used as a step stool to reach high cupboards, it's a footrest and sometimes a coffee table - it still looks good in a kind of rustic way! Taken with an Apple iPhone 4.

Design by "Luca 12:00". The Nubin Stools were shown as part of a collection of products inspired by traditional korean quilting called "Nubi". It is a process of placing cotton lining between two pieces of fabric and sewn in geometric patterns. It is most commonly seen as in a traditional bride's blanket, but the technique is also used for military blankets, men's overcoats, cushions and otherproducts that need insulation.

The Nubin Stool takes a cue from this technique but uses discarded newspaper as the liner. The sandwhiching fabric is a mesh so that the graphics of the paper shows through.
The project is part of the Seoul Design Festival Designer's Lab.

This is a stool I've been working on the last few weeks. My goal is to assemble a stool together using thermoforming, and through this, eliminate the need for fasteners. By using what would normally be considered "consequences" of vacuum-forming, the undercuts and trapping of wood add to it's structure.
Dogon Stool used by the Village Hogan.
In the center of a Dogon village is the residence the Hogan .The Hogan or priest performs a variety of social and political functions He is the master of trade and commerce and oversees planting and harvesting rituals. Hogan stools were never used for sitting. They were ceremonial objects only representing the throne of the Hogan. The seat is formed on top of four Nommo twins placed facing the north south east and west compass points.
