My trusty Marshall The Guv'nor. I always felt it lacked some oomph so I copied it and even though I used the exact same components my copy sounded much better. It uses a TL072, a very standard double op amp. Inside the box on the picture is my copy with a little more gain than original. I rarely use it on my tube amp, the DS1 sounds so much better.
I agree with @fuzzpope here: The Beast from the East, Yamaha is my favorite 80's underdog, tucked safely away under the eclipsing shadow of the Roland/BOSS manufacturing super-monster. This guy was so freaking brilliant. I've tried to note his setup; he basically had a CD of backing tracks with two mics going through various stompboxes. He "sang" into them and went crazy. INSANE.
