Turns out the newer models of the Cranked AC (on the left) have a battery and what looks, to my untrained eye anyway, to be different circuitry. My "older" model (on the right) doesn't have the battery and is comprised of different components.

The newer model (on the left) is slightly louder in my tests and has an overall better tone (again, to my untrained ear). I'm slightly jealous that Jimmy got the new one.

On the right is the Cranked AC I bought back in October and on the left is the one Carbomb and I bought for Jimmy for his birthday. The differences in knob color is not too surprising, but the difference in location of the footswitch is curious. So... I opened the thing up to find out why.

Behringer CS400 > Geofex A Low-Fidelity/Telephone/Noise Pedal (with adjustable low and high pass filters and white noise) > Tim Escobedo Jawari sitar emulator > Behringer UV300 > Dan-Echo with hold switch mod > DOD FX17 > Madbean Cave Dweller delay with LFO, tails bypass and a second footswitch that sets the delay time to the minimum.
