i bought it as a joke because she's so spoiled but it ended up getting almost filled! not too much candy though, just little cheap presents.
I made this Christmas stocking for my best friend who loves A Nightmare Before Christmas.
I'm really enjoying making these.
free pattern to make these little stockings on my blog. click here
the fabric is linen with the cuff from amy butler's love collection. love those dots!
the embroidery design is my snowman and birdie design.
This scan includes my stocking pattern and the pattern that Fritz provided on the ED forum (for comparison). Fritz's pattern was meant for one way stretch fabric and I've only made mine with fabric that has stretch in both directions.
My pattern is very roughly based on the stockings that came with Alice. Both Alice and those stockings were made by Marina Bychkova.
This pattern is on 1/4 inch graph paper. I'm sorry the ruler's a bit hard to read. It was the only one I could find in my house that had both metric and inches on it.
My pattern is free to use for any non-commercial purpose. Fitz's pattern is not mine, so you'll need to ask for permission to use it for anything non-trivial.
If you make stockings from my pattern please send me a picture! :)
The pictures of our stockings didn't really turn out as I never seemed to have time while there was light out. This was the best one. They're packed now, I'll try again next year.
My mother knit them, all 4, and she did a fabulous job. Each with a different motif. Eleanor swore at one point that hers has a hippopotamus on it. I tried explaining that it's a bear, but she said no and then declared it to be a puma. At this point I started laughing and lost all credibility in my side of the argument.

I'm loving the look of the very natural yet somewhat elegant burlap stockings I've been seeing on display this year, and decided that I needed to re-create them. I followed this brilliant tutorial for general Christmas Stocking at Make it Love it , and then just went from there to embelish them.
As burlap tends to be very organic and inconsistent, I did line them, as although I wanted them to be somewhat rustic in appearance, I also wanted them to be functional.
From a stocking pattern by Thimble Blossom, and an adaptation by Cluck Cluck Sew, then further modified by me.
Fabric is "Flurry" by Kate Spain.
