A more “boring,” weathered version of my Chevy P20 step van. The rear compartment opens up - not like the real thing, but hey, it’s still a toy that fits in your palm.
Unusual windowed Grumman stepvan in downtown Boston. With windows on the side and an AC unit up top, looks like this could be used to collect packages while parked streetside.
Taken at All American Tire and Auto Service's shop in the Blue Ash suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio.
My spotter noticed this van and it's graphics while we were in the area. Since we both like Marx bagles and cycling, she stopped across the street and took a few shots. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me at the time, but I lucked out as the truck was still there a couple of days later when I had my camera and she was willing to give me the tme to take a few shots of my own.
Marx Bagles was started by the brother of an old HS friend of mine many years ago and became famous in the area for the quality of his Kosher offerings. He was quite a wild, crazy, loud and opinionated guy who called himself "the bagel man" and was personally involved in every aspect of his business all the way down to waiting on the customers himself. He loved to debate anybody who happened to express an opinion, particularly a political one. I think he'd bate people just to stir up an discussion. It was hard to know which side he was really on as he seemed to go with the opposite side of whoever just to keep things lively, and they often got very heated and lively.
Not too long ago, he retired, but the shop is still true to it's foundings and stil producing the great bagles they are famous for. i knew you could find them at area grocery stores in addition to the store/restaurant where they are made, but didn't know they had this cool delivery and catering food truck. I love that they painted the "Bagle Man" on the side and kept the image he first made famous. You'll note that the gogglles he is wearing are actually bagles.

I built something!
Two years ago I was asked (as usual) if I have a SWAT van that could be used in a potential Arkham set. I didn’t have one then (or did I?) but 30 minutes later I did.
Back then I figured that if it won’t be used, then I can always sneak it into something else as a taco truck or a TV van, whatever, but it went thru.
The build is pretty straightforward except for the front, that utilizes an odd combo of plates and brackets built in every direction on a footprint of a 2x2 brick to create the distinctive Chevy Stepvan headlight assemblies with it’s eyebrow turnsignals. No doors, as these things usually drive open, and since the doors are of sliding type, I don’t think it’s feasible in this scale.
As usual, I built it in different colors, and different lenghts, but the final product is pretty close to my initial sketch.
This is also the set where I was allowed to wish for an element for the first time ever in my career here at LEGO, and I went for a tyre that I needed for years now.
It’s a real gamechanger for me, and you’ll find that tyre from September 12th in the 76300 Arkham set.

Iveco Daily boxvan in Frankfurt, Germany. Of all the photos I got of these Ivecos, this was the least blurry. Between the overcast skies, the very dark brown colors, and the movement of the van driving down the street, even panning at 800 ISO didn't avoid the blur.

Walk-through vans are not very common in Europe. Some were built for parcel delivery companies like DHL and UPS. This Chevrolet Stepvan got a new life as a food truck. It's selling poffertjes, a traditional Dutch batter treat, resembling small, fluffy pancakes.

Ice cream trucks were a mainstay of my childhood. I remember pursuing these trucks all over the block and getting excited when a new one popped up. Obviously, those days are now over. With that said, however, a small soft spot remains on me for ice cream trucks.
Garbage Trucks will remain the bread and butter of this account, of course. but starting today, I will let some room here for ice cream trucks. Don't expect too much, as there only two of these that operate in my local area, and none of them have yet to visit my neighborhood.
Noland's Unique Paint and Body in the Sliverton neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio. David Krikorian ran for congress in Ohio's second congressional district in 2010. I shot this a few weeks ago. I wonder where it has been between 2010 and 2016. Perhaps he was saving the truck to use in another campaign.
Noland's shop is a couple of miles away, but he lives much closer. I pass his home frequently and notice that he sometimes has some of the vehicles he is working on sitting in his driveway. A couple of days ago, he had this truck at home, but all paint had been stripped off. I hope I get to see what the new paint job looks like. Perhaps with a special paint job and a little ice cream, it will turn into a real chick magnet. What young lady wouldn't love to go to her Senior prom in such a cool ride?
This mural covers one part of the wall of the Hall Ambulance headquarters in Bakersfield. This truck would be a circa 1980 Chevy P30 step van.
