OK so she looks a bit grumpy...but when doesn't she!! I think she is the most beautiful girl in the world.
I've seen shots of this a few times before, it's slowly becoming to be another cliché shot at the Art Institute of Chicago. Well, here's my contribution ;) .
The 108 steps are in Macclesfield, Cheshire. They date back to the 17th century, it is one of the landmarks that Macclesfield is known for, the steps were relaid in 2014, the area at the top of the steps is also very old including sparrow park, which provides a good view of Macclesfield
Bedruthan Steps is a stretch of coastline located on the north Cornish coast between Padstow and Newquay, in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is within the parish of St Eval and is part owned by the National Trust. The Trust maintains a shop and cafe and the cliff–top view of rocks stretching into the distance along Bedruthan beach makes the area a popular attraction for tourists and painters. The property affords walks along the coast path and the steep steps at Bedruthan allow access to a series of rocky beaches at low tide (not owned by the Trust). Signs at the top of the steps down to the beaches warn visitors not to risk swimming in these waters due to heavy rips, fast tides and submerged rocks.
Marble steps found along the streets of Baltimore are as much a part of the city's culture as crabs and baseball games. The use of marble for steps is due to the presence of high quality white marble in Cockeysville, a town 17 miles north of Baltimore harbor by highway. Indeed, the marble found there is so attractive, stone was hauled all the way from this northern Maryland town to the nation’s new capital, instead of local Potomac marble quarries, for use in decorative construction around Washington, D.C., including the Washington Monument, and 108 columns of the capitol building. During the construction phase of the Washington Monument, that is through the middle of the 19th century, the marble gained in popularity as a decorative stone and was used omnipresently for the steps of rowhouses surrounding Baltimore harbor and in Fells Point. Baltimoreans take pride in the fact that their mundane doorsteps are made from the same beautiful white marble used for the construction of the famous Washington Monument. Scrubbing marble steps has become a tradition in Baltimore. The ritual includes scrubbing the marble with Bon Ami powder and pumice stone.
Yeah, yeah..it's been done. I had been trying to do this all afternoon though. Finally got a good one though...pulled up the colors and the shadows a bit for dramatic effect.
Waya Island, Fiji
Steps at the side of a sluice on the river Aire, taking the user direclty into... well, nature. So random, not sure why they were there, but a great contrast between the nature and the steps.
The rulers of Vijayanagara empire (14th century) walked up this staircase to the Mahanavami Dibba to watch the Dussera Procession......a tradition that was adopted and is followed today at Mysore.
Each side of the stone steps is lined with the hydrangeas.
