Part of a path in a neighbor's garden.

Sometime the simple things can be the most beautiful.

These are the stepping stones at The Meeting of The Waters in Tollymore Forest Park. It's a special spot where two rivers meet, and can be tricky to get without people in the shot, but a midweek morning it was clear. The leaves were just starting to turn their Autumn colours.

This is a place I keep on returning to photograph as I love it. CPL filter and tripod used.

Looking for its next meal in Skeleton Creek.

Created for World Sight Day by Sandy and Steve Pell.

Ruddy Turnstone. Popped over to North Berwick to see if I could catch the Purple Sandpipers before they departed for their Arctic breeding grounds and I was not disappointed. Very dull conditions but the birds were very close so it didn't work out too badly

The semi-submerged stepping stones on the River Derwent near Hathersage.

Stepping stones across the River Porter in Endcliffe Park, Sheffield. Almost 70 years since I was first led across them by my parents.

It can be incredibly rewarding to find a subject that speaks in whispers, seeking to challenge you. Some opportunities require work on technical issues such as exposure, and angle. Others make you work through the composition inspiring you to tell the story that sits in front of you.

What finally unveiled itself were stepping stones that could also serve as a leading line. One almost wants to step out on them to cross over to the larger rocky outcropping to see what lay beyond.

The stepping stones over the River Clywedog in Plas Power Woods.

The solstice came and went in a dull grey haze. Today Freddie leads the way towards 2025 with low sunshine and lens flares.

Eastern Bluebird on the fence. You have a shorter lens, so you have to strive to get closer. Take a step and shoot, take another step and shoot etc. until you are practically right on top of the subject. Subject gets irritated with the whole process and makes a sudden departure. Mission accomplished.

Another hand-held 5 shot panorama.

Boxhill Stepping Stones. Photo taken in September but edited to give an autumn look and feel.

Sometimes I get focused on the details and forget to take the long view! After a morning shot at the Mobius Arch (to the left) I stepped back a bit to get a broader view of the interesting rock piles called the Alabama Hills and the Eastern Sierra.
