Deputy District Commander Major Michael Busby and Tapestry Charter School Director Joy Pepper signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide a foundation for cooperation in advancing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at the Tapestry Charter School, Buffalo, NY, May 14, 2014.
It is anticipated that the partnership will include projects related to Civil Works and other Corps of Engineer functions (such as environmental protection projects) that support the school's STEM goals. Primarily, USACE Buffalo District intends to enlist STEM professionals to engage with students and to increase professional development opportunities for the faculty and administration.

If you have a 3rd-6th grader, join us Wednesdays in May from 3:30-4:30pm with STREAM Innovations. We will be learning STEM-based activities based on the topic of agriculture.
Last week, the kids learned about trees. Tomorrow, we will learn about plants and seeds.

Elementary teachers learn how they can teach concepts related to sound and waves. The K-5 STEM project is a three year project that includes 67 elementary teachers and is led by scientists, mathematicians and educators from UW Oshkosh.

Two STEM Expos were held in October 2015 for the K-12 students of Galena Park and Pasadena, Texas, through partnership with Communities In Schools. The events were supported by funding from an American Chemical Society grant.
Teams also competed in a STEM Challenge, racing against the clock and each other to solve science and math puzzles to break several locks on boxes filled with treats.
Slender-Stem Bitterweed is a common Spring wildflower found in Kerr County, Texas blooming from March through October.
