First attempt at some star trails. Had it not been so cold and had I not been on my own, I may have bothered to stand out there for a bit longer and therefore the trails would have been a bit longer! Also... the trails are a bit wibbly wobbly. Must have nudged the camera some how! ooops. Next time!

Startrails de 32 tomas de 1 minuto.

TImelaps Startrail attempt.

This is my second real attempt at creating star trails.

This was my first attempt at a star trail. As I recall the bright white 'star' in the centre of the image was Jupiter. I used the 'StarStax' software to blend about 70 images to create this picture.

On a rooftop in Iraq, set up with a mini-tripod on top of a couple sandbags. Stack of thirty 30 second exposures. There's a lot of dust in the air, and more light pollution than I would have thought

Q: Why isn't the windmill moving?

A: As they're building this wind farm, they seem to activate them a row at a time. While this one looks complete, I guess that row isn't done yet.

Q: Hey, the stars are a bit off-center.

A: That's not a question. And, I know. Frankly I'm quite happy that the star I decided was the North Star when I started this picture actually was.

Q: What's with the little breaks in the trails?

A: This is a composite of 12 pictures that were taken for 8 minutes each. There's a little break of about 1 second after each one as my timer released the shutter and then started taking the next photo.

Q: What software did you use for this?

A: Startrails.exe by Achim Schaller. www.startrails.de/html/software.html

Q: Aperture, ISO, focal length?

A: f/3.5, ISO200, 18mm (effectively 28.8mm due to 1.6 crop factor)

a couple star trails from last night. Still pretty hard to get away from the light pollution from the city. One, 10 minute exposure

Atacama's desert startrail. 30 seconds shots, 50 minutes total exposure

Star trail. fast moving scattered cloud has added a new dimension in this trail image. The streaks are not equal in strength all along the length.

startrails from last night.

not 100% pleased with the results. It is very busy and kind of hard on the eyes. But I still like the composition. please leave a comment with your thoughts or tips:)

thanks

My very first attempt at startrails. Pointing at the south celestial pole from my backyard.

This 100 x 30sec pics stacked in startrax. I am stacking them again using Photoshop to see if there is any difference. It is taken from my back garden.

Sorry it's 200 picture not 100 stacked.

While the goal of many star trail images is to show unbroken streaks, I find these lines beautiful. They remind me of Australian Aboriginal art.

Hello, aujourd'hui c'est startrail ! Pour ceux qui s'y connaissent il y a une centaine de photos , pas plus car l'appareil commençait à geler 😂. La prochaine sera une voie lactée normalement !

This is nothing but another attempt to get a good startrail.

I had to keep that corner of my car because on the other corner you can see some trails of falling stars.

What you see is a result of 197 pictures in the following settings:

ISO: 100

Shutter speed: 30 seconds

Aperture: 3.5
