As we agreed more than a month ago, the first day of homeschool was the last day for this pair of shoes for my oldest son. He asked if he cold keep them as a sort of memento. I said he could keep a picture of them. He followed me out to the porch where we made our commemorative picture. He made sad faces for me for the camera.
After placing them lovingly in the trash can, I asked him if he needed a few moments alone. He rolled his eyes at me and we laughed and headed inside.

I'm starting to push myself out of my comfort zone by trying to learn how to do portraiture. Starting with SPs for now. I've got a LONG way to go. So many of my friends here on flickr are so good at this.
Salsbury Point - Poulsbo, WA. Boats of every walk of life enter the Hood Canal here; from pleasure boats to commercial vessels, these launch ramps see it all. The floating pier stands between the pair of old and worn down asphalt ramps; but that doesn't seem an issue, as the remnants of the previous ramps lie strewn along the waters edge.
Mid-afternoon it started to pour. It didn't last long, but it was the start of about three days on constant rain.

This is, I believe, normal for a Venom starting under wet conditions. But... wow, what a sight. It left quite a mark across the tarmac.
Friends of RiverFront's first Plein Air Workshop took place during ArtWalk (May 16 and 17). A well-known regional Plein Air artist, Ken DeWaard, was the instructor.

George, been a while since we did this. I challenge you.
...a good start to my day at the 2011, Baton Rouge FestForAll in, where else, downtown Baton Rouge. Here in Louisiana, Spring is festival season, and there are more things going on than you have time to go to. My preference is to stay local, where things are cheaper (mostly free) and it doesn't take much gas to get there...*+^
I hope to get everything from the FestForAll uploaded this week, because next weekend is the local Blues Festival, so I'll have a few hundred more photos to process...^+^
