Continuum
This work started with the concept of “Continuum” which connotes every life or even inorganic substance are being in continuum so the life and death are actually cannot be separated. Those of philosophical thoughts are coming from several philosophers e.g. Gilles Deleuze, Zhuang Zhou and so on. They considered every existence as a thing in the whole universe in a flow to compose the world. The quote from Deleuze shows the contemplation.
A fiber stretches from a human to an animal, from a human or an animal to molecules, from molecules to particles, and so on to the imperceptible. ... It is already going too far to postulate an order descending from the animal to the vegetable, then to molecules, to particles. Each multiplicity is symbiotic; its becoming ties together animals, plants, microorganisms, mad particles, a whole galaxy. (Félix Guattari and Gilles Deleuze, A Thousand Plateaus, 2004, p. 275)
Meanwhile, the objects of the work are mostly coming from Korea’s traditional ritual ceremonies; funeral and birth/long living party etc. In the work, the objects for each ceremony are collected to be mixed so the work can show the boundless status between the celebration of life and the grief of death. Also the work has metaphor from organic body of water-life (fish) and inorganic substance (soil).

The moment of the start. Both boats are about to cross between the 2 blue start buoys as a helicopter film crew records the race. Several hundred feet up, San Francisco's summer fog hides the mountain. These are extreme telephoto shots, as will be seen in the final picture of this series.
