b>PREFACE

"SHADHINOTA is My Cause for the 40th Celebration of BANGLADESH Independence. The land, the mighty rivers and the natural beauty makes Bangladesh a land of unparalleled splendor and magnificence. Bangladesh was liberated after a prolonged war of Independence the declaration of which was given on 26th MARCH 1971. One of the worst genocides Genocide in history took place at the behest of an autocratic regime in the name of Political stability spearheaded by the then Pakistan President Yah ya Khan. After 9 months of Liberation water and the sacrifice of 3 million lives Victory came. In addition to the loss of lives countless others were rendered homeless, the infrastructure including roads and bridges and factories lay in ruins. The people of Bangladesh have shown time and again how resilient they are. After each and every disaster, natural or man-made the people have again stood up and started all over again from scratch.

My Effort here is to pay tribute to the valiant sons of the soil and the ‘die hard’ attitude of a people who can still smile in the face of adversity however great it may be. I plan to make a collage of images that represent the lives of the people of Bangladesh. I encourage you to upload a photo each day till I have a total of 40 images for the Cause SHADHINOTA in the group Frame BANGLADESH"

The Mauser C96 (Construktion 96) is a semi-automatic pistol that was originally produced by German arms manufacturer Mauser from 1896 to 1937. Unlicensed copies of the gun were also manufactured in Spain and China in the first half of the 20th century.

The distinctive characteristics of the C96 are the integral box magazine in front of the trigger, the long barrel, the wooden shoulder stock which gives it the stability of a short-barreled rifle and doubles as a holster or carrying case, and a unique grip shaped like the handle of a broom. The grip earned the gun the nickname "broomhandle" in the English-speaking world, because of its round wooden handle, and in China the C96 was nicknamed the "box cannon" (Chinese: 盒子炮; pinyin: hézipào) because of its rectangular internal magazine and the fact that it could be holstered in its wooden box-like detachable stock.

With its long barrel and high-velocity cartridge, the Mauser C96 had superior range and better penetration than most other pistols of its era; the 7.63×25mm Mauser cartridge was the highest velocity commercially manufactured pistol cartridge until the advent of the .357 Magnum cartridge in 1935. Mauser manufactured approximately 1 million C96 pistols, while the number produced in Spain and China was large but unknown due to the non-existence or poor preservation of production records from those countries.

Within a year of its introduction in 1896, the C96 had been sold to governments and commercially to civilians and individual military officers.

The Mauser C96 pistol was extremely popular with British officers at the time and many purchased it privately. Mauser supplied the C96 to Westley Richards in the UK for resale. By the onset of World War I, the C96's popularity with the British military had waned.

As a military sidearm, the pistols saw service in various colonial wars, as well as World War I, the Easter Rising, the Estonian War of Independence, the Spanish Civil War, the Chinese Civil War and World War II. The C96 also became a staple of Bolshevik commissars and various warlords and gang leaders in the Russian Civil War, known simply as "the Mauser". Communist revolutionaries Yakov Yurovsky and Peter Ermakov used Mausers to murder the Russian imperial family in July 1918.

Winston Churchill was fond of the Mauser C96 and used one at the 1898 Battle of Omdurman and during the Second Boer War; Lawrence of Arabia carried a Mauser C96 for a period, during his time in the Middle East. Indian Revolutionary Ram Prasad Bismil and his partymen used these Mauser pistols in the historic Kakori train robbery in August 1925. Chinese Communist General Zhu De carried a Mauser C96 during his Nanchang Uprising and later conflicts; his gun (with his name printed on it) can be viewed in the Beijing war museum.

Imported and domestic copies of the C96 were used extensively by the Chinese in the Second Sino-Japanese War and the Chinese Civil War, as well as by the Spanish during the Spanish Civil War and the Germans in World War II.

Besides the standard 7.63×25 mm chambering, C96 pistols were also commonly chambered for 9×19mm Parabellum with a small number also being produced in 9 mm Mauser Export. In 1940, Mauser officials proposed using the C-96 as the vehicle for an upgrade to the 9×25mm Mauser Export cartridge to match the ballistics of the .357 Magnum. Lastly, there was a Chinese-manufactured model chambered for .45 ACP. Despite the pistol's worldwide popularity and fame, China was the only nation to use the C96 as the primary service pistol of its military and police.

China blasts US, British intelligence services over spying claims

China foreign ministry says US is ‘biggest threat to world peace, stability and development’ after spying accusations.

China has accused the United States of being “the biggest threat to world peace, stability and development”, in response to accusations by the heads of security services in Washington and London that Chinese spying is a global threat and China is threatening international order.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian’s comments on Thursday came a day after the head of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the leader of Britain’s domestic intelligence agency, MI5, raised fresh alarms about the Chinese government, warning business leaders that Beijing is determined to steal their technology for competitive gain.

The heightened tone from Beijing also comes ahead of a meeting on Saturday between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Group of 20 (G20) leading rich and developing nations’ ministers summit in Bali, Indonesia.

“The relevant US politician has been playing up the so-called China threat to smear and attack China,” Zhao told reporters at a daily briefing when asked about FBI Director Christopher Wray’s comments denouncing economic espionage and hacking operations by China and the Chinese government’s efforts to stifle dissent abroad.

“Facts have fully proven that the US is the biggest threat to world peace, stability and development,” Zhao said.

“We urge this US official to have the right perspective, see China’s developments in an objective and reasonable manner and stop spreading lies and stop making irresponsible remarks,” he said.

‘Covert pressure across the globe’

Wray’s speech was particularly notable because it took place at MI5’s London headquarters and alongside the British agency’s director-general, Ken McCallum, in an intended show of Western solidarity.

“We consistently see that it’s the Chinese government that poses the biggest long-term threat to our economic and national security, and by ‘our,’ I mean both of our nations, along with our allies in Europe and elsewhere,” Wray told attendees on Wednesday at the meeting of business leaders and officials.

MI5’s McCallum said the Chinese government and its “covert pressure across the globe” amounts to “the most game-changing challenge we face”.

In his response, Zhao said British intelligence was “simply projecting their own dishonourable behaviour onto China”.

“The head of the British intelligence service should cast away [his] evil in mind, come out of the dark room and see the sunshine, and not always hold on to the zero-sum thinking or set up so-called imaginary enemies,” he said.

Zhao on Wednesday slammed Blinken’s comments at last week’s NATO summit in Spain, in which the US secretary of state accused China of “seeking to undermine the rules-based international order”.

Under President Xi Jinping, head of the ruling Communist Party, China has assumed an increasingly aggressive foreign policy, joining with Russia in seeking to undermine the influence of the US and its allies.

Beijing has refused to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine – which is expected to dominate the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting – while condemning Western sanctions against Moscow and accusing Washington and NATO of provoking the conflict.

US, UK poison perception of China with intelligence chiefs’ cliched accusations

The US and UK have created yet another wave of hype about so-called China espionage, only this time with a clearer purpose, more "sensational language" and the aim of manipulating the West's perception of China, Chinese experts said, after the heads of the FBI and MI5 warned that China's industrial espionage poses a growing threat to Western groups, including through special purpose acquisition companies.

Given in the UK, where Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced he resigned as the Conservative Party leader and is set to resign as prime minister after a slew of scandals, and in the US, which has witnessed a surge in gun violence and social issues that are tearing society apart, experts said a new form of xenophobic McCarthyism is on the rise in those Western countries. This is especially the case in Five Eyes alliance countries, which are experiencing waves of social and economic problems. Heaping domestic pressure on other countries, especially a rising China, and fanning the "China threat" theory are all old tricks that they use.

In a joint appearance in London, the chiefs of the US and UK intelligence agencies called on companies to be much more vigilant about China.

FBI director Christopher Wray said Beijing was using "elaborate shell games" to disguise its spying and was even taking advantage of Spacs. "The Chinese government poses an even more serious threat to Western businesses than even many sophisticated businesspeople realize," Wray told corporate leaders.

MI5 Director General Ken McCallum said that the MI5 had seen a sevenfold increase in China-related investigations since 2018, had doubled its capacity to deal with them over the past three years and would probably double capacity again over the next "handful of years," the Financial Times reported.

In response to those remarks, the spokesperson from the Chinese embassy in the UK said on Thursday that "allegations against China by US and UK intelligence officials are completely groundless and the so-called cases they listed are pure shadow chasing. This is a typical example of a thief crying 'catch thief'. We deplore such a despicable and deceptive trick."

The spokesperson pointed out that US and UK intelligence agencies are notorious for their constant engagement in eavesdropping, theft, infiltration and subversion against other countries. They spread all kinds of lies about China in order to smear China's political system, stoke anti-China and exclusionary sentiment, and divert public attention in order to cover up their own infamous deeds.

Zhao Lijian, spokesperson of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at the regular press conference on Thursday that the US intelligence officer's remarks exposed the US' deep-rooted zero sum mentality and ideological prejudice. The US just celebrated its 246th Independence Day, and the country was not at war for only 16 years throughout its 240-plus years of history, which made it known as "the most warlike nation in the history of the world," said Zhao, noting that the US is the biggest threat to world peace and development as it has launched wars everywhere and created conflicts internationally.

The bogus accusation from the two officials of China's so-called espionage problem is not new, Liu Chang, a researcher of US studies at the China Institute of International Studies told the Global Times, noting that such accusations come every few months and each time use more "sensational language" than the previous ones.

This time, the accusation is more planned and systematic, as it aims to intimidate Western companies and also to manipulate the West's perception of this problem, Liu noted.

Last month, the Global Times learned from sources that the Five Eyes Alliance is collecting and fabricating evidence that intends to show China is "infiltrating politically into Western countries," with the aim of tarnishing China's image around the world.

Similarly, a briefing released on Wednesday by the US' National Counterintelligence and Security Centre warned that China exploits the nature of the US federal system to influence local and state leaders. It said that "The PRC (People's Republic of China) understands US state and local leaders enjoy a degree of independence from Washington and may seek to use them as proxies to advocate for national US policies Beijing desires."

In response, Zhao said at the Thursday briefing that this is an example of a Chinese idiom that describes somebody who has lost his axe and accuses the neighbor of stealing it. He said the US accusation is full of zero sum mentality and makes something out of thin air.

Liu warned that other Five Eyes countries may also follow the UK and the US suit, and exaggerate the "China threat" in their own country. "We've already seen the giant power of mixture of cognitive warfare and psychological warfare after the Russia-Ukraine crisis, thus we should not underestimate the damage by the US in concocting and spreading false information," said Liu.

Experts said that the hyping of the "China threat" and so-called espionage problem will actually backfire, as it deals a huge blow to normal exchanges and cooperation between the two countries and terrifies Chinese scientists and corporations that work in those Western countries.

In a previous interview with the Global Times, Huang Zhengyu, President of the Committee of 100, a US organization of prominent Chinese Americans in business, government, academia, healthcare and other fields, said that the "China Initiative" launched by former US President Donald Trump aimed at cracking down on Chinese scientists has backfired. According to 2021 research by the Committee of 100 on over 2,000 scientists, including Chinese scientists in the US, many elite scientists are reluctant to apply for federal funding and have decided to stop cooperation with China. Some are even considering leaving the US.

McCarthyism out of incompetence

Wang Wen, professor and executive dean of the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China, said he noticed that whenever the Five Eyes countries are in a hard-pressed situation, such as a battered economy or seeing other countries surpass them, McCarthyism becomes prevalent in their countries so as to heap their domestic pressure onto countries such as China.

Western countries have been facing a slew of woes lately. In the UK, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has resigned as Conservative leader and will step down as prime minister when a new leader is found, the BBC reported Thursday. Johnson's government has been plagued by a series of scandals, from accusations of his disregard for rules and revelations of illegal lockdown-breaking parties held in Downing Street, to allegations of impropriety and abuse by Conservative lawmakers, media reported.

In the US, the past Independence Day was marred by gun violence, protests and widespread despair over a failing country. Even its President Joe Biden has admitted that "in recent days, there has been reason to think that this country is moving backward, that freedom has been reduced, that rights we assumed were protected are no longer."

Wang said that taking the US as an example, Biden has been competing with his predecessor Trump to create a "new political correctness, which is to divert public attention by using McCarthyism. And in fact, blaming others for their own problem is an old tactic used by Western countries," according to Wang.

Experts said that those Five Eyes alliance countries, led by Washington, is creating a chilling terror under which people from those countries are afraid of engaging in exchanges with people from China and vice versa. "Since the pandemic, people-to-people exchange between China and those countries has hit rock bottom. This is something the Five Eyes countries should reflect on," said Wang.

In 2012 alone, nighty eight (98) income-generation activities were supported by DCPSF that included different groups, such as women, youth and various tribes. A total of 92 percent of sampled community members responded that trust and confidence was restored in the communities where the DCPSF projects were operating. Over 80 percent of sampled Darfuris responded that they are satisfied with reconciliation mechanisms, experiencing increased levels of peace and stability. Despite of the increasing overall intensity of conflicts and security incidents in 2012, sample survey and reports from 21 ongoing projects, 2012 indicates that the communities with the DCPSF strengthened their resilience to conflicts and enjoyed peace and stability where activities promoting early recovery could take place. More than 146,500 people have used the community-based conflict resolution mechanisms benefited directly and some 2,425,620 people benefitted indirectly in which the efforts spread to some 160 communities in 2012. DCPSF has supported 61 educational and 7 health initiatives. Forty-five (45) civil society organizations (CSOs) improved planning, conflict sensitivity and peace building activities. Through DCPSF, 25,302 children were newly enrolled in schools in Darfur and 109 water sources including boreholes, hand pumps, wells, and hafirs through consultative processes.

Despite of tough security situation and access, DCPSF has gone beyond the defined milestones by achieving 14 out of 17 milestones defined for 2012. It requires a continuation of funds for the period of time to brought back the communities to pre-conflict situation as a significant amount of anchoring are still in an intensive care. Core stability refers to a person's ability to stabilise their core. Stability, in this context, should be considered as an ability to control the position and movement of the core. Thus, if a person has greater core stability, they have a greater level of control over the position and movement of this area of their body. The body's core is frequently involved in aiding other movements of the body, such as the limbs, and it is considered that by improving core stability a person's ability to perform these other movements may also be improved i.e. core stability training may help improve someone's running ability. The bodies core region is sometimes referred to as the torso or the trunk, although there are some differences in the muscles identified as constituting them. The major muscles involved in core stability include the pelvic floor muscles, transversus abdominis, multifidus, internal and external obliques, rectus abdominis, erector spinae (sacrospinalis) especially the longissimus thoracis, and the diaphragm. The minor muscles involved include the latissimus dorsi, gluteus maximus, and trapezius. Notably, breathing, including the action of the diaphragm, can significantly influence the posture and movement of the core; this is especially apparent in regard to extreme ranges of inhalation and exhalation. On this basis, how a person is breathing may influence their ability to control their core.

Some researchers have argued that the generation of intra-abdominal pressure, caused by the activation of the core muscles and especially the transversus abdominis, may serve to lend support to the lumbar spine.

Typically, the core is associated with the body's center of gravity, which is over the region of the second sacral vertebrae groups and stability is associated with isometric or static strength. In addition, it is the lumbar spine that is primarily responsible for posture and stability thus providing the strength needed for the stability especially utilized in dynamic sports.
