As some of you know i do like shooting with the iPhone 4S and messing around with the various apps that you can get so i have a few new bits of hardware and software to tell you about.
Firstly Ive just bought an Olloclip for my 4S from Amazon.
Its basically a small attachment that clips over the top corner where the camera sits and has 3 lenses built in. 1 Wideangle, 1 Fisheye and upon unscrewing the wideangle a MAcro lens. They are all built into the single unit and accessed by turning it over.
It isnt cheap at £60 but seems well made and fits the 4 and 4S.
Theres a group on Flickr for this attachment and some of the shots are brilliant so hopefully it will be a good addition to my other bits and bobs :)

Here's a contrast using my 1/400 scale man-toys- an America West 737-100 and an Alaska 737-900. The -100 made its first flight in April 1967, is 94 feet long and seats 85 in a typical two-class configuration with a MTOW of around 111,000 lbs. The sign parts I can make out include "mercantile company" and "dry goods, hardware, groceries & _________." Not sure what the rest of it says. Something else, which I can't read from my phone screen (from which I'm posting this), apparently was painted over the part on the far right. Are you able to read other words?

There's always a lot of debate amongst Mooney owners as to why the distinctive vertical fun of Mooney aircraft is the way it is. Some feel that Al Mooney did it to be a nonconformist, others feel he did it because it looks cool, and others feel it has certain aerodynamic benefits. My readings of the subject suggest to me that it was done to simplify production. The vertical fin and tail plane were built up on the same jigs in the Kerrville, Texas, factory and both left and right tail planes are interchangeable (symmetrical airfoils). Unusually, Mooney's aircraft move the entire empennage for trim- this way the rudder and elevators don't need trim tabs, further simplifying their construction. I didn't note the tail number, but I think this might be a Mooney M20F Executive, but not too sure. If you know where to look, buried inside the structure of the MD-80's wing is the wing of a legacy DC-9 Series 30/40/50. Seriously. See, back in the 1970s when the MD-80 was in development, the significant stretch involved meant a new bigger wing would be needed. McDonnell Douglas engineers looked at a supercritical airfoil, but there were bigger performance gains to be achieved elsewhere in the design than using a supercritical wing- that meant the same airfoil as the Series 30/40/50 could be used. Imagine cutting off the wings of a DC-9-30 where they join the fuselage. Now add in a 5 foot or so root extension and then reattach the wings to the fuselage. Now cut off the wing tip and stick in a 2 foot or so constant chord section and reattach the wingtip. Presto! That's pretty much how they got the MD-80's wing. Note the kink in the trailing edge of the outer wing. That's the constant chord outboard addition. The area where the trailing edge is no longer swept is the inboard root addition.
