Brussels sprouts were first recorded as a spontaneous sport from a cabbage plant found in the Brussels region of Belgium around 1750.

Sprout is supposed to be a five year old sprite/ fey living in a medieval inspired world.
Her wig is custom made by the amazing Tinybear and is supposed to look like tabby cat fur. Her faceup and clothes are all done by me.

2010 Challenge Theme: WEEK 14 SUBMISSION
Weeks 13-16: Down Low
So I have been slacking on the challenges during March, but trying to get back into at least trying to shoot some themes. If nothing else, getting myself out shooting something regularly.
These are the little seedlings my wife is cultivating inside until the weather gets warmer and spring actually arrives.
Flanders Fields are rich, fertile and well tended. On a smallish scale this terrain is all remade. On a larger scale the rise and fall of the topography remains as it was. Looking over this crop of brussels sprouts, what else, the land rises and there over the crest, falls away towards Ypres. The tips of spires are visible, as they would have been when German artillery sought to fell them so that they might not act as lookout posts.
The air is clean, fresh and smells of the crops. Here, it's like cabbage. Closer to town where onions are maturing on top of the warm soil it is, well, like onions. Flanders Fields are recovering. Like Ivor Gurney's poem , let's remember these good bits and not dwell on the dark and dangerous past.
