I met Julian with his humanitarian aid truck at the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro. I know him some years and I support the aid organisation "Deutsche Humanitäre Hilfe Nagold" from northern Black Forest. They have 2 trucks for transport of aid goods to Romania, Ukraine and Albania. Mainly for orphanages. I had known for a few days that he was on his way to Albania and we arranged to meet in Montenegro.

Heathrow 24-6-2006 - Metropolitan Police Mercedes Sprinter Van - Responding to a call.

Places we have never driven as we hurry about shopping, visiting friends, getting a vehicle fixed in our retirement.

Offroad in Velebit mountains

The Freightliner Sprinter is just a rebadged Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. The rebadge is facilitated by the fact that both Mercedes and Freightliner exist under the Daimler umbrella.

The Freightliner makes sense as an acquisition for a fleet like the NYPD, since the idea of a government acquiring Mercedes-badged vehicles (seen almost exclusively as prestigious luxury vehicles here in North America) might invite some public outcry. The Freightliner variant allows the NYPD to get all the benefits of the Sprinter without the badge issues.

The track from the Aoos Canyon back to the mountains. It looks difficult, but it was no problem for my campervan with 4x4, low gear and differential lock for the rear axle.
