I’m not sure what has been going at the 1879 Main Adit for some time now. Someone has been digging down to the adit entrance, bulldozed over in the 1980s by the council. Now there is overhead cover on the little shaft. I wonder if the National Coal Authority know about this?
The southern part of Springvale Industrial Estate, here on the left, is built on the site of the former upper GKN foundry which, on its closure, was producing marine diesel engine cylinder blocks for Perkins. The northern part was built mainly on former Cwmbran Colliery land, owned by GKN until their closure.
Not a good advert for this food establishment. Ok, the bags have presumably accumulated over the holiday, but the dumped fridges and freezers have been in situ for most of last year.

The 1965 v noted that the Commonwealth Rehabilitation Service had acquired land in "Glen Waverley for a new residential centre to replace the ‘Maryport’ Centre at Mt. Martha." The new Centre would provide treatment for 100 residents and 40 day cases.
The site is now called the Victorian Rehabilitation Centre.
