Some time ago, I took some pics of Nunawading station and railway line being put below street level to eliminate a bottleneck of traffic. Thought I'd give you an update on how works are progressing. this view was taken yesterday.

Cwmbran Colliery opened in 1837 with an adit sunk at Upper Cwmbran, the Porthmawr Adit. A second adit, the Mineslope Adit was opened in about 1856 further up the mountain from the first. In 1879 a third adit was opened in Springvale, and this became the Main Adit. The first two were closed, and the Main Adit survived until the colliery finally closed in 1927. The tramway from the adit passed along this wall and merged with the main tramway which had carried coal from the Porthmawr and Mineslope Adits down to the Half Way in Old Cwmbran where, originally, another tramway continued to Caerleon Wharf. The remains of the Main Adit can just be made out as a wall through the trees after the council filled it in in the 1980s in yet another act of vandalism of Cwmbran's industrial heritage.
This 1973 “souped up” Ford Escort drove very loudly and definitely in excess of the 30mph speed limit down Springvale Way and on to the roundabout, making off down Greenforge Way. Obviously got money to burn at current petrol prices!

This ambulance came racing on full priorities from Springvale Way on to Maendy Way, and on towards the town centre, presumably en route to the new Grange University Hospital at Llanfrechfa.
A tasty crab with a light and crunchy batter. Could have done with a bit more chilli and spring onions in the salt-and-pepper mix.
