Springtime in Sitges, Barcelona

Springtime brings bee

This is my favorite part of the year...going outside & taking pictures of all our trees that are just budding out.

Springtime! Time to get an early season start on the rest of the boat project.

Make space in your calendar at least once per month for complete guilt free time for yourself. Make time once per day to relax and smile- find something that helps you do just that. Get outside. Enjoy the warmer weather and sunshine. After all, it's what you've been looking forward to all winter.

It is snowing right now, and the arctic blast is scheduled to arrive overnight, bringing bitter cold and dangerous wind chills for the remainder of the week. I was going to post more of my winter bird photos but instead decided to post some images from spring and summer, reminders of warmer days. This photo is from May 2014, Wildwood Park, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

The gardeners did a great job in planting so many colourful roses in our college gardens. They all are so pretty.

In the later 1880s in Paris, a few friends, among them, Bonnard, Vuillard, and Denis, rejected the teachings advocated by the academic painters with whom they studied. Rather than represent subjects with sophisticated realism, these young artists chose a naïve style, stressing the decorative quality that could be obtained in a painted surface. “It is well to remember that a picture before being a battle horse, a nude woman, or some anecdote, is essentially a flat surface covered with colors assembled in a certain order”, explained Denis

Springtime, a double sided canvas, describes a purification scene set deep in the forest of Saint-Germain, near Paris. The composition is a study for a larger, more realistic painting of 1899 ( Virginal Printemps), and in 1908 was the basis for a wall decoration.

Easter themed parade at Tokyo Disneyland

These were taken using a Pentax 85mm f/2.2 Soft focus lens. It was designed to have a ton of under-corrected spherical aberration. As such, it's depth of field is extremely deep, even wide open (if you don't understand how this can be, ask and I'll try to explain, or point you to someone who has already said it well). I find if I focus close and let the back edge of what is in focus barely touch the subject, the background _finally_ drops away. Messing with the aperture, of course, adds another dimension of possibilities.

The real reason I wanted to write something in these comments/descriptions is that this Pentax lens came mounted with a Nikon F-mount bayonet. It's the only Pentax K-mount lens I've so far seen remounted this way. I don't know if Pentax made a series of Nikon F-mount (never heard of it before) or if this was just a very good job done in a shop somewhere.

X-Small screenprint I made for a spring-market last weekend.

One evening, during our Disneyland Paris Magical Moments Events Tour, we were treated to a very magical evening at Parc Disneyland that included "Springtime for Mickey" in Central Plaza, "Disney's Dine Under the African Stars" at Hakuna Matata Restaurant in Adventureland and a very special Magical Moments meet-and-greet on Main Street USA. It was such a magical evening that I actually wept afterward.

Ah! Warmth! Sunshine! Flowers! All that good stuff has finally returned!

Tried out some filters (old Google Nik Collection) on forest trees with budding leaves.

I couldn't imagine when I moved to Kentucky almost 3 years ago that Spring would come so early!
