I wish a happy Chinese New Year to everyone!

恭賀新禧!

This year's Spring Festival in China is overshadowed by coronavirus cases with rising death tolls. Let's hope that the Chinese authorities' drastic measures will be successful!

A photo to help cool off my family and friends on this first official day of summer. Many of whom live in the lower 48 states and have already had temperatures reaching into the high eighties!

(We are predicted to reach a high of 67 degrees Fahrenheit today. Much more to my liking.)

Wishing everyone a happy solstice.

HSS 😊 😊 😍

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day and an exciting, fruitful and happy new week! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Longer, brighter and warmer days, flowers, growth ....

Lake Hechtsee in Austria. Shot with Leitz ELMARIT 2.8/28mm. My first Test with the new Sony A7 Mk.II

This has been a hellish week for the poor crocuses - warm enough to pop up, and then a crushing twenty five degree temperature drop to start the weekend, followed by snow overnight last night. For perseverance alone they deserve a medal. Despite the grim setting of wet snow their hardiness is a shot in the arm in these challenging times. To say nothing of the sad early tulip leaf trying to get in on the action.

An unfolding fern leaf. These plants are so fascinating to me. They are so photogenic in every part of season, from springtime to autumn they are always so beautiful and different

Willows in Springtime (with apologies to Claude Monet) at the Slimbridge wetlands centre in Gloucestershire. There are so many willows of many varieties on the nature reserve that even one of the viewing points is called Willow Hide.

Willows, also called sallows and osiers, of the genus Salix, comprise around 350 species (plus numerous hybrids) of typically deciduous trees and shrubs, found primarily on moist soils in cold and temperate regions.

I was out hunting woodpeckers this day and although I heard some I got sidetracked by this charismatic woodland creature
