CENTRAL PARK, NEW YORK, USA -- Spring in Central Park with the trees in blossom.

Testing of the new Nikon D5000 in Central Park, New York. Shooting at ISO 3200, using 10 seconds at f13 with a pop of the flash to light up blossoms. No tripod handy so used a rock and my fedora. Handy to have the tilt screen on live view to help frame things up.

Bushy Park - Springtime (scanned from a photograph)

With all this cold weather I have still not been able to venture out with the camera, here is one from the springtime with the Buttercups in all their glory at Hatfield Forest.

It's been awhile since I've posted any photos here. There's probably...around 4 years' worth of travels that I've yet to sort out photo-wise. The fact that most people (myself included) have no incentive to travel these days has triggered me to finally sit down and revisit these photos.

This photo was from the last time I visited Japan in Springtime - hard to imagine that it was a year and a half ago. We got there at the very tail end of the sakura blossom period, when everything is being replaced by a sea of green. For everyone who wants to get some respite from the crazy tourist hubbub of Kyoto, I would really suggest heading to Eikando Zenriji.

Springtime is a case of one step forward and two steps backward in Toronto.

This is essentially the same view as the one below which was taken 4 days ago..

KInda hard to believe, isn't it?

The historic town of Talkeetna, Alaska is located near the base of North America's tallest peak, Denali. Population of 1,237 (in recent census). Photo taken downtown on April 16, 2021.

Pulsatilla vernalis

On a grey, cold and colour-free late winter sunday, I found some spirit in watching photos of a long gone springtime photo walk. Isn't that a courious beautiful little flower?

When the rains come to the southern Serengeti early in the year and the grasses green up it becomes a time of plenty, with large mixed herds and their predators feasting and getting fat. In this image a hartebeest (Alcelaphus buselaphus) keeps company with a mixed herd of zebras (Equus quagga) and wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus).

Springtime

Victor Hugo, The whole lyre

Here are the long days, light, love, delirium!

This is the Spring! March, April with a sweet smile,

May flowery, June blazing, all the beautiful friendly months!

The poplars, asleep by the riverside,

Bow gently like great palms

The bird quivers at the far end of the calm, tepid woods

It seems that everything laughs, and that the green trees

Are joyful to be together and say verses to each other.

The day comes crowned with a fresh and tender dawn

The evening is full of love, the night, one can almost hear

Through the immense shadow and under the sacred sky,

Something happy singing in the infinity.

Printemps

Se courbent mollement comme de grandes palmes ;

L’oiseau palpite au fond des bois tièdes et calmes ;

Il semble que tout rit, et que les arbres verts

Sont joyeux d’être ensemble et se disent des vers.

Le jour naît couronné d’une aube fraîche et tendre ;

Le soir est plein d’amour ; la nuit, on croit entendre,

A travers l’ombre immense et sous le ciel béni,

Quelque chose d’heureux chanter dans l’infini.
