My girls planted this garden last summer with my mom for a Butterfly unit they did. They got to pick out plant to attract butterflies. Well, spring is here and this garden is in full bloom. Just needs a little weeding, but I pass by it every night on my way to and frm feeding horses and it looks so pretty to me, so tonight I snapped a picture of it with my phone camera. Not the best picture, but at least you can now see what I did.
I just added a frame with picnic!
Awww, loving the almost daily surprises of all the new Spring growth popping up around the farm.
English bluebells (Hyacinthoides non-scripta) are an introduced species in the Pacific Northwest and other parts of Canada. They date back to the early 1500s and are native to England and France.
In the United Kingdom, the bluebell is protected under the “Wildlife and Countryside Act, 1981”. Landowners are prohibited from removing common bluebells on their land and it is a criminal offence to remove the bulbs of wild common bluebells. Source Wikipedia.
These fragrant spring bluish purplish delights reach heights of 12 inches and make beautiful cut flowers.

Metrosideros thomasii is in bloom once again and attracting the insects and nectar loving birds.
Deep red fluffy flowers on this very dense shrub. No problem coping with the coastal winds and exposed site in this location. These shrubs provide ideal refuge for native birds who love the nectar.
Here one can see buds, full flowers and spent flowers.
Roughly in the centre of the shot one can see male (red) and female (orange) cotton harlequin bugs (Tectocoris diophthalmus).
