A great day in Davenport, California. The "hole-in-the-wall" cave I took in a previous post is on this beach, along with some great rock formations. Takes a little bit of steady nerves to climb down the steep path but well worth the effort.

Native Acacia triptera occurs here in Australia in the states of New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria. It is a rigid dry-country shrub with unique, curved leaves each tapering to a sharp spine.
This is a lesser known wattle, so it was great to see.
Growing to 3 m.

The birdhouses in my backyard were looking a little lonely on this misty rainy morning. But not to worry, the Hydrangeas are beginning to show their lush spring leaves and the Jupiter's Beard, and Lilacs are coming along quite nicely. I noticed today that a wren family is busy building their nest in the little blue birdhouse on the right. Our hummingbird feeder outside the front room window has become the center of the action, with a handful of hummingbirds darting about sparring for the nectar. Spring is definitely in the air.

My girls planted this garden last summer with my mom for a Butterfly unit they did. They got to pick out plant to attract butterflies. Well, spring is here and this garden is in full bloom. Just needs a little weeding, but I pass by it every night on my way to and frm feeding horses and it looks so pretty to me, so tonight I snapped a picture of it with my phone camera. Not the best picture, but at least you can now see what I did.
I just added a frame with picnic!
An endemic New Zealand wood pigeon, semi-resident in our garden, and enjoying meals of the freshest and finest-quality kōwhai shoots.

Swallows mark the beginning of Spring although in here they are arriving sooner and sooner. Had an interesting session with this one the other day and will most definitively post more than just this one photo. Cheers everyone.
