The view, or what little there was to see of it, from my garden today.

This is the village of Orlingbury in the north of Northamptonshire. We live a few minutes drive away, but we bring our little Yorkie here to enjoy a walk on their large, attractive village green with its surrounding mature trees and - during the spring - its flower beds, such as the one pictured. The building on the other side of the cross-roads is known as The Old Forge, and I would imagine once had a blacksmiths at its rear, where the dark red roof is. These days that is a very pleasant cafe.

From the archives, springtime on a Paris street.

springtime

Taken at Slimbridge. So glad that we went here yesterday because it's raining today..

White-throated Sparrow

We love hiking here. Picture a giant glacier coursing through this valley making the moraine hills on the sides which rise up over 500' from the valley floor. Many of the lakes are the result of massive chunks of ice breaking off and getting covered with earth which insulates them. Some ice can exist this way for thousands of years. Labrador Pond is a relatively large but shallow (4-6') relic of this time period, a mere 12,000 years ago.

The roads are bare - the sun is warm - the birds are returning - and the highway department has bucketed out the end of our driveway. That means that spring has definitely arrived in Alaska.

Our temperatures are warming to the low to mid-thirties during the day but dropping to single digits at night. This is the time of year to break out the camera gear, and photograph the snow-covered mountains, and slowly melting streams. April will arrive in one week, and it is one of the prettiest times of the year to enjoy the far north.

In this photo you see Mt. Drum - a peak that is part of the mighty Wrangell Mountains. I am so blessed to be able to enjoy this view each time I travel toward Glennallen. Come on up and see it for yourself.

Was framing the larger tree across the river with the closer branch hanging down to get some creative funk happening.

Then this beautiful Red-winged Blackbird decided to land into my view....voila Springtime Passion !

It's a matter of being there at the right place at the right time...isn't life grand when the magic and passion meet !

It's like Wow, all at once within one week Springtime exploded. It's been hard to keep up and be in five places at once to see all that has gone on. It sure is pretty though and i am definitely in my element...camera in hand. I sometimes think that i should make up a T-shirt with a decent photo of myself and a slogan that says.....Photography is my nature...which is exactly how i feel about photography !

What a great weekend it was. Temperatures in the double digits, sunshine and I found this nice spot with thousands of blooming crocuses. Bringing all the gear (including the 100-400 mm) was a good choice. Small DOF and a soft bokeh... I'm happy and hope you'll...

Enjoy!
