I decided on a virtual swim goal for 2007: swimming the length of Lake Champlain It's 120 miles, about 50% more than last year's total, but last year was a crazy year. It's sort of neat, they give you this spreadsheet to download and then you get to just type in what you swam and it does all the math. There is a little map to color that you can print out.
For some reason, coloring in the little map (one new bar every five miles) is more of an incentive than, say, "getting in shape" or "lowering cholesterol" or "leaving the house" or all the other great things exercise is supposed to do for you.
This is a membership tracker which has editable columns and editable membership types. After entering your notes, the spreadsheet automatically enters the amount of time that has passed since the first note was entered. Long day writing spreadsheets and tinkering round with geometry meant that by the time we'd finished parents' evening, done the school disco, and been to the local high school for an open evening I'd run out of steam to take my 365 shot for the day.

and worked on my grocery price list spreadsheet.
and printed out the transcript transfer form i need to register at the community college here.
and when sam got home from work we ate chicken paprika and drank wine.
i also did some laundry in the laundry room here in our apartment building. it costs $4 total for washing and drying. and when your clothes come out, they smell like mildew! isn't that lovely?
i fucking hate this place.
why don't poor people clean shit up?

i hate them.
and then all night i dreamt of taking the most amazing dark brooding pictures of people and things in downtown saint petersburg. that's all i dreamed about for hours and hours.
then i dreamed about getting tickets for loitering because i was napping on the sidewalk. and going to a restaurant in the mall that served only Conversation Hearts.

I like signs, stickers, graffiti, letters, words, language...there are so many fabulous things that can be done with these items, that I'm always amazed that I haven't created any stickers of graffiti promoting my wicked 'AmsterSam' gear yet. I guess it's the laziness that overrules most ambitions in my life that keeps me from doing those things, stoopid genes! But then again, these pictures are proof that there are plenty of people out there already, that are way more creative than I am, covering each topic and blasting their ideas into the world without any assistance from my lazy self...let's call it team-work, lol :)
