Seagulls aren't the most beautiful or exciting birds but I always enjoy shooting some pics of them. This was shot near Snug Harbor in the Port Credit last Monday morning. Early morning light and a beautiful blue sky helped make this my favorite image from an enjoyable photo walk with Frank (farsighted2). You can see his photos here...

Bat conservationist Craig Dunton from the Back from the Brink project spreads seeds to create new insect-rich meadows where grey long-eared bats (Plecotus austriacus) can forage. This seed mix includes common knapweed (Centaurea nigra), wild carrot (Daucus carota), lady's bedstraw (Galium verum), meadow crane's-bill (Geranium pratense) and yellow rattle (Rhinanthus minor) and is being sowed at sites in the South West of England near known grey long-eared bat roosts. This successful restoration of meadow habitat is reliant on willing landowners to set aside space, so any sowing is preceeded by important relationship building between conservationists and farmers. The grey long-eared bat is classified as Near Threatened by the IUCN and is Britain’s rarest breeding bat species.

Ahhh, cloudy skies are not doing me any favors here, but I still was pretty excited to capture my first set of bald eagle photos.
Even with a 400mm lens, I quickly learned that it is very difficult to get anything resembling a closeup of these birds. This image is cropped and represents only about 55 percent of the original.
