He (Howard Marsh) stacked 8 images. This morning is quite smoky and that could explain the more yellow hues. Or it could be the different camera (Nikon D6), using the old familiar Nikkor 105mm. Or the angle of light. Or the slightly later time of morning...

Preferences? You won't hurt my feelings and certainly not Howard's! He's an old pro.

I didn't empty the dishwasher again. Sorry Pookie!

Inspiring your culinary adventure Est. 1969

Have you ever looked into a mirror to see your reflection and contemplated on it to be an endless reflection. I did a bit of photoshop tweaking to emulate that notion for a club photography contest. It took 2nd place in the reflection category. Tell me what you think?

My write up on photographing the new Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas here

On the weekend of November 20-21, 2010, I was invited to photograph the new Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas prior to their opening December 15, 2010 in Las Vegas NV.

This set of images represents my efforts that weekend to showcase this newest resort property opening up on the Las Vegas Strip. Thanks to David Scherer from The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas for showing me around, to Miiko Mentz at Katalyst Films for helping to arrange the shoot, and to my wife for modeling for me.

My wife resting at Longwood Gardens. She is so patient when we go to Longwood since I stop every 10 feet to take pictures. I appreciate her acceptance of my picture taking.

An old tourist shot of the charming spouse and child at Sacsayhuamán, the Inca site just outside Cusco, Peru. It was a cloudy day with uninteresting lighting, but a fascinating place to visit.

I got talking with two gals in cosmetics, and probably could have spent an hour babbling with both. My spouse returned somewhat impatient, and had no time for chatty trans women or dept. store employees who find trans women amusing. I was whisked away, but it’s so gratifying to simply be welcomed and accepted by your peers.

Actually, this was a festival were several interesting things were going on.

I very rarely share personal photos, but this one seemed like a portrait worth sharing.

Anniversary 25 years of marriage!

1. Treading water...

This is a deep contemplation on who is the one to decide just how amazing or beautiful or smart or capable you are anyway? Sometimes we just tread water and make it through the day or even swim against the tide when it comes to our own growth and development. Sometimes we wait for the priest to tell us, or a teacher or therapist or spouse or any outside consultant to bring us to the next level. As kids we fall down so often, learning to walk, riding a bike, skating or skiing...we just got up and hold on to the vision that we could do it. That we just might be as amazing as we sometimes allow ourselves to think we are when it comes to what is in our heart.

2. Reviving Energy...

Yes it takes some effort to get the mechanism going again if it has been shut off for a while. Take the time and focus to find it again...it will change everything. Breathing, meditating, doodling, playing an instrument, hugging a tree, taking a photo of something that makes your insides bubble with enthusiasm.

3. Sustaining Trust in Wings...

It's often easier to see other people's gifts and talents than our own. No one is so special as not to have at least one. If we are honest, we sometimes don't spend the necessary time to develop it and LET IT LEAD US into knowing ourselves better. We've come here to play in the way that we did as children. Immersed in deep imagination and seeing the next adventure long before we even enter the scene...trust in those jumps and leaps into fulfillment.

4. Free to Be

Who can tell you who you are? Who can measure your success? Who can judge your character? Who looks back at you when you look in the mirror? Arise, see the winged version of your soul and energize it again. Time waits for no one but generously pours itself through every breath.

Dare yourself to not be ordinary today.

As a young girl St Cecilia made the vow of virginity because she wanted to be a Spouse of Christ and belong totally to Jesus! Thus she was willing to die a martyr's death for the sake of her virginity consecrated to Christ.

We pray today for all women who are so consecrated to Jesus, especially the Dominican Sisters of St Cecilia in Nashville, TN.
