Sunny Rest Spot Leo cat relaxing in his favorite chair and about ready to nap, shot in North Carolina.

Experimenting with watercolor pencils was initially challenging. Then everything seemed to come together. Perseverance is the key.

This was the first time I had seen and heard a Cheetah in real life-albeit at the zoo, and it was both mesmerising (the beauty) and surprising (the teeny tiny meow to come out of such a big cat!!).

Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge

The path has all kinds of sections. Some parts are in frozen shadows, others are lit and sunny. It is always nice to find a bright spot on your path, and they're always there, so keep moving forward and don't stay in shadows.

We had stayed about an hour and a half away from the Grand Teton/Yellowstone NP area the night before. We got up early and one of the shots on my list was to catch a sunrise at Schwabacher’s Landing before heading into Yellowstone for the next several days. I had never been before so there was a bit of a learning curve so to speak. As I made my way down the path, I noticed several photographer’s staking out their spot for the sunrise. I had been watching many youtube videos of people’s travels to this area, but you just can’t understand the magnitude of beauty this park has. I don’t usually photograph people in my images unless using them for scale but I couldn’t help myself. It was as if he was fishing for his next shot.

A pair of BNSF Geeps shove a tanks and two insulated boxcars down the spur to spot Building 20 in the Spokane Business & Industrial Park. The crew would only spot the tank here and deliver the two boxcars to Building 32, but this spur also receives boxcars. At least five warehouses in the industrial park receive boxcars and they all seem to be a mix of these new Lineage Logistics 60' insulated boxcars and older standard height 60' cars. I don't know if they are all different customers that incidentally get the same type of car, or if it's largely one or two clients that use multiple warehouses. The rail to the right is used to switch out cars it appears but doesn't reach any other active customers. Spokane, WA

Storms roll through! Turning the Calendar today!

Yellowstone's Norris Geyser Basin is the hottest spot in the park, closest to the hot magma not far below. Pictured here is the Colloidal Pool in the Porcelain Basin of this large geothermal wonder.

Quite the memorable experience walking thru here with all the geysers, boiling pools and fumaroles belching sulphuric steam. I found it a bit eerie, yet can't wait to return.....

Thanks for your visit. Always appreciated.

Enjoy a wonderful weekend!

The other day, on the rather testing climb to the top of Mt Amos, I stopped for a breather and found myself in good company: a cluster of ancient lichen-covered rocks doing exactly the same thing. We sat there in companionable silence, admiring the view they’ve been enjoying for a few million years longer than me.

Mt Amos sits within Freycinet National Park on Tasmania’s east coast, part of the Hazards range of pink-granite peaks overlooking Coles Bay and Wineglass Bay. It’s one of my favourite spots in Australia. Though, to be fair, so is everywhere else I visit!

And when I say, “the other day,” these days that could mean anything from yesterday to about twenty years ago. 😉

Fun Fact: Many mountains are made of granite - which is gneiss of them. Geologists have been known to take them for granite ... but only once. 😉

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Here we are again in London, Kyoto Garden to be precise!

This is one of my favourite spots of this amazing city, so peaceful and always deserted - only a few people know of the existence of this little gem.

Unfortunately, as every time, I come here unorganised: also this time I forgot my tripod! So, this is a long exposure done by hand. Be kind with my shacky hand! :)

3 shots from the larger of Cregennan Lakes.

Cregennan Lakes are owned by the National Trust . There are tremendous views of the Mawddach Estuary and Barmouth Bridge from near the lake, the lakes are situated on the northern slopes of Cadair ldris, some 800 ft. above sea level, overlooking the beautiful Mawddach Estuary, with car park, just 5 miles from Dolgellau.

You can walk around these natural lakes, or head up to Pared y Cefn Hir to enjoy spectacular panoramic views over the mountains and Mawddach Estuary.

Large lake with beautiful small island, 27 acres, wild brown trout only. Fly spin/worm.

Small lake, 13 acres, regularly stocked with blue & rainbow trout, plus a good head of wild brownies. Fly only.

The National Trust owns two small hill farms where the rough grazing is managed in the traditional way. A sign of summer here is the arrival of that dainty visitor, the wheatear, which is often difficult to spot.
