The Spot-flanked Gallinule is a tiny, distinctive gallinule, with four disjunct populations in South America: it occurs around the pantanal, ibera, and entre rios wetlands northeast Argentina and nearby Bolivia, Paraguay, and Brazil; extreme eastern Brazil, central Chile, and central Colombia. This species frequents lagoons and marshes. Its small size and cryptic coloration make it especially difficult to see when it is hiding in the reeds, though it will venture into open water regularly. The Spot-flanked Gallinule has a slate-colored head, neck, and underparts, with white spots on the flanks, and a warm brownish-red back and wings. Photographed at Mostardas, RS.

The Dingy Skipper (Erynnis tages), a dull in appearance yet with attractive markings when look closely, this little skipper is well camouflaged and not easy to spot when rests undisturbed on the ground. Even more difficult to see in the vegetation when it folds his wings like a moth. Martin Down NNR, Hampshire, England, UK.

Beautiful scenes like this are all around the Great Salt Lake, but finding and reaching them take a lot of effort. This shot is 22 miles (34km) from a paved road.
The Great Salt Lake - GPS is not the exact spot of the shot.
No comments today – just enjoy :-)
One of the little rest spots at Winter Wheat. There are books within where guests can say their name and where they are from etc.

This spot is on the boundary between Banff National Park and the Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park. It's 5.5 km out from the Day Lodge. It is a great spot for a snack and rest spot whether winter skiing or summer biking. Today there was a very fine haze in the sky giving the mountains an almost pastel appearance in the photos for the day.

A pair of BNSF Geeps shove a tanks and two insulated boxcars down the spur to spot Building 20 in the Spokane Business & Industrial Park. The crew would only spot the tank here and deliver the two boxcars to Building 32, but this spur also receives boxcars. At least five warehouses in the industrial park receive boxcars and they all seem to be a mix of these new Lineage Logistics 60' insulated boxcars and older standard height 60' cars. I don't know if they are all different customers that incidentally get the same type of car, or if it's largely one or two clients that use multiple warehouses. The rail to the right is used to switch out cars it appears but doesn't reach any other active customers. Spokane, WA
Lots of sun beating down on a black cat can get mighty toasty. It's best to find a shadier spot to bird watch.
