I used a technique here which I had seen way back when I started this 365. It involves smearing a small amount of Vaseline onto a clear filter and then wiping it about in different directions to change what you see in the frame.
This image won the Black & White competition in the Theme Challenges group.
This grass seed head was a tricky photo to get focussed the way I wanted it - what looked cool through the lens looked a bit pants when I was chimping (checking each image as I took it), and left in colour, it still looked rather uninspiring. I wanted to show the form, so I converted to B&W, then gave it some very light split-toning (blue and pink), which brough out the form without having to increase the contrast which would have reduced the detail. I like punchy colours and/or strong contrast, so this is a rare deviation toward subtlety for me.

I've been doing some trail walking at our many local conservation areas. As a result, I'm getting lots of tree shots. I just love trees... :)

Dutch actress Carice van Houten at the Filmfestival in Utrecht.
Overlooked this photo, probably because she is partially obscured by another photographer, standing in front of me...
Like her look and the fact that the logo just fits in the frame.

Amazing lens. Image quality is much better than the 50 1.8 until f4, and it's worlds beyond the 18-55 in every way..
Split tone variation of the color version posted previously. Not sure which I like better...leaning toward this one?

One of the "treehouses" on display (on the pond) at Cheekwood Gardens. I took this with my super-crazy misconfigured 4-1/4" Gundlach projection lens.
