The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had

In 1967 Canadian filmmaker Christopher Chapman developed a way to have separate rolls of film playing in one full frame of a movie. This was a called "Split Screen". A film was commissioned in the country's Centennial year ( 1967 ) promoting the Province of Ontario called, "A Place to Stand".
Since this image is compounded of two Pano Sabotage shots from Toronto, I thought it appropriate to homage Chapman's innovation with a "multi-screened" image in my own style. This is the only image in the series "Once Upon a Time" that was not shot in New York, but on home turf.
These images are from an annual street party for Toronto Pride. This is a huge event and it brings out at least 1 million people, who crowd the streets and parks of the downtown core to celebrate the event. Ever since it's inception in 1981, there hasn't been a single incidence of violence, with a mood of joy and celebration always permeating the event.
Pride, of course, was stopped dead in 2020 for reasons we all know about. It has been cancelled for 2021 as well. With it's high feeling of hope and joy, complete lack of upset and such hight attendance, one can only hope that this event and others like it can return one day, renewed.

Wonderful example of a T1 Split screen VW, seen at Reigate Hill. We saw one looking pretty much exactly the same on the way home!

The once thriving British car market seems that it is no longer in existence. Today, Australia imports mainly Asian made cars.

The first generation of the Volkswagen Type 2 with the split windshield, informally called the Microbus, Splitscreen, or Splittie among modern fans, was produced from 8 March 1950 through the end of the 1967 model year. From 1950 to 1956, the T1 (not called that at the time) was built in Wolfsburg; from 1956, it was built at the completely new Transporter factory in Hanover. Like the Beetle, the first Transporters used the 1100 Volkswagen air-cooled engine, a 1,131 cc (69.0 cu in), DIN-rated 18 kW (24 PS; 24 bhp), air-cooled flat-four-cylinder 'boxer' engine mounted in the rear. This was upgraded to the 1200 – a 1,192 cc (72.7 cu in) 22 kW (30 PS; 30 bhp) in 1953. A higher compression ratio became standard in 1955; while an unusual early version of the 30 kW (41 PS; 40 bhp) engine debuted exclusively on the Type 2 in 1959. Any 1959 models that retain that early engine today are rare. Since the engine was discontinued almost immediately, no spare parts were made available.
