The #MacroMondays theme for 1/5/25 is #medications. I do take generic Advil but other medications i sometimes need to split if they’re too strong.

One of my favorite Minnesota landmarks--the iconic Split Rock Lighthouse, as viewed from a couple hundred feet over Lake Superior. Sitting on a rocky outcrop 130 feet above the water, the lighthouse itself rises another 54 feet for a total height of 184 feet above the big lake. While no longer active, the restored lighthouse and associated buildings are present-day glimpses into Minnesota's maritime past. I like how the lens, a third-order bi-valve Fresnel from France, glistens in the morning sun.
Split Rock is a shelf of solid limestone of which canal workers had to cut a water gap for the canal right of way.

These stone are called the "Praying Hands of Mary".
I was told by an old bloke building a stone wall at the bottom of the hill that they are also called "Fiann's Arrow" I'm not sure about the spelling of the second name. There must be a gaelic name for them as well... ?
This is such a tricky place to photograph. In winter it's in the shadow of Ben Laws for most, if not all of the day. Even at this time of year there is very little light, two minutes after this the sun was down behind another hill behind me called "Creag nan Eildeag".
Thanks go to Ian Murray, a photographer I met in the early summer for putting me onto this place. I will be back again and again as I get to know the area better and will get much better shots than this.
I have spent hundreds of hours in Glenlyon with only a few shots to show for my time, it is such a difficult place to get anything at all, makes it all the more appealing !
Lovely split-rail fence with supports on the border of Monmouth Battlefield. I didn't even notice the pretty little Eastern bluebird halfway down the line.

Split [split] (italienisch Spalato, entstanden aus griechisch ἀσπάλαθος, aspálathos) ist die zweitgrößte Stadt Kroatiens. Sie ist die größte Stadt Südkroatiens und gilt daher im Volksmund als „Hauptstadt Dalmatiens“, ohne dass ihr dieser Status je offiziell zugesprochen wurde. Die Stadt ist Verwaltungssitz der Gespanschaft Split-Dalmatien (kroatisch Splitsko-dalmatinska županija), die den zentralen Teil Dalmatiens umfasst. Split ist eine bedeutende Hafenstadt und Sitz der katholischen Erzdiözese Split-Makarska. In Split befindet sich zudem die Universität Split. Die Ursprünge der Stadt sind auf den Diokletianspalast zurückzuführen. Die Innenstadt von Split mitsamt dem Diokletianspalast wurde 1979 von der UNESCO zum Weltkulturerbe erklärt.
