Split Tongue Crow played a tripple-billed show @ the Sumner Night Chapel as part of the Keene Music Festival series to benefit the restoration of the Chapel. A band new to me, I was blown away! Also in the lineup were Big Paws and Blackjack Crossing. Check out pictures of their sets as well, and go buy everyone's music, or better yet, see them live!

Garden Number Six - "Wanakiwin" - 93 Cooksey Drive, Seal Harbor
"This unique garden, designed and built by Dennis Bracale in 2004, incorporates colorful flower borders and stunning ocean views. One enters through stone gateposts set in a split rail fence and walks up a gently sloping, fern lined drive with a serenely bubbling brook on the left. A pine needle path leads through a rustic, post and beam pergola with benches to a flower garden overflowing with blooms and shrubs in a lush Romantic style. An antique white marble table from India serves as a dramatic centerpiece between semicircular perennial borders. A terrace behind the house features dramatic views across rugged craggy, shores to Bakers Island and the Eastern Way."

Slovenia/Croatia Trip - Day 12; Split
Exploring Split - Diocletion's Palace Cellar

We visited split for only one day because the house that we were staying at in-between Split and Omis and most of our contacts were in Omis. However, from what we saw, it was still a very beautiful city. Split is the capital of Croatia, so it is a bigger city and more touristy than Omis. It also has a port where you can take a ferry to Italy if you wish.
We played on the streets during our afternoon there in order to promote our gigs in Omis.
In 2011 Split, Croatia briefly featured in most of world's media. Not for the architecture, Festival of Mediterranean Film, Roman palace or 140% rise in room nights from tourism but for the horrific treatment of the first Split Gay Pride. Stones, firecrackers, spitting and Nazi salute chanting of 10000 angry citizens greeted just 300 pride participants. It was a very dark day in the history of my city.
Fast forward 2012.. I woke up today thinking ah.. going for a coffee and then off to get stoned.. The day of Split Pride 2012 arrived. This time it was better, bigger and 100% safe. New coalition government has shown the full commitment to human rights and this time made sure that Pride was a success. Split was a better place today then a year ago and so is the whole of Croatia.
