For some, Splash Mountain is the highlight of a hot summer, providing a sweet respite from the heat. As much as I...

Now that it's warming up here in Dallas I'm ready for a ride on Splash.

I think this trip may be the first time I shot more in the light than at night and I think the effort of chasing the light around the parks was well worth it. We had just finished shooting this gorgeous sunset from Cinderella Castle and rushed over to Frontierland chasing the light. We got there just in time for this gorgeous burst of light and had a good 10 minutes worth of shooting before it fizzled out. Thanks for looking everyone.

I set my tripod up to do multiple exposures and on the last and the longest a log went down the shoot and the flash went off for the photo you can purchase at the end of the ride. I was quite surprised when I looked at the screen to see how cool it was that their flashes light up the scene so perfectly. 5 shot HDR run through Photomatix. A little photoshop to remove my brothers large head from the bottom of the photo. Thanks Gary for getting in the way.

Now how could I resist a shot of the Splash Mountain sign as I'm a huge fan of all the Disney signs. I liked the shadows that were cast over the sign. Please let me know what you all think as any suggestions are welcomed and appreciated. Enjoy!
Thanks for the views, comments, and favorites, everyone! This picture made it to #431 in Explore for September 19, 2011! :)
Here's a shot from Tokyo Disneyland of their Rivers of America taken from their Tom Sawyer's ISland. It's probably my favorite interpretation of the area. Splash Mountain flanks the rivers on one side, and Big Thunder stands on the other. It's really terrific.
Thanks for looking.
todays #Disney Pic from the Parks - Splash Mountain - The ride had been stopped so I took advantage of not having to worry about getting splashed.
Even though, on the map, I have this placed at Tarzan's Treehouse, if you turn towards the Haunted Mansion, this is the view you get of both the Mansion and Splash Mountain.
Taken from the top most "floor" of the Swiss Family Treehouse you can catch wonderful views of Cindy's Castle, the Tiki Room and Splash Mountain. While this isn't a great photograh by any means I do like the point of view. I was lucky enough to catch a log splashing down to its laughing place as well. Anytime I can get a unique view of my favorite ride then I'm happy.
A view of Splash Mountain as seen from the stairway up to the loading platform of the Frontierland Train Station.

I finally decided to try and shoot on Splash Mountain. I brought a large plastic bag to pop my camera into during any time it may get wet and it worked great! Thanks for looking and have a great day!
Our Friend Johnathan Winship - proprietor of this fine establishment - believes that a good old-fashioned yellow raincoat and black boots are the best way to greet the briar patch. If you survive, he'll offer you safe harbor and hot clam chowder before your voyage home.
I had a lot of trouble with this shot - I couldn't get rid of the chromatic aberration no matter how hard I tried - the wobble of the shot was just too much (the issues of handheld photography). But I loved the content and the composition too much to not post it.
I hope you enjoy it too.
Thanks for looking, and feedback is always appreciated!
