A silent spirit who feeds off and imitates the emotions of others. Eternally lonely and in need of companionship, yet cursed to cause harm and damage wherever he goes.
Another shot of one of Japan's most historic bathhouses, which you can read more about on this earlier image.

Part of the next wave of models for my "Miyazakitopia" diorama. Chihiro (aka Sen) and her new friend, No-Face.
One of the oldest hot springs in Japan, even mentioned in the 万葉集 (Man’yōshū) – the oldest existing collection of Japanese poetry, compiled around 759 AD. The Dōgo Onsen was the favourite retreat of famous Japanese writer Natsume Sōseki (1867–1916), when he was working near Matsuyama as a teacher in what was at the time rural Shikoku. In Sōseki’s loosely autobiographical novel Botchan, the eponymous main character is a frequent visitor to the springs; the only place he likes in the area. It was also the inspiration for the bathhouse in Studio Ghibli’s Oscar-winning Spirited Away!
While Dōgo is largely engulfed in the suburban sprawl of modern-day Matsuyama, the area around the onsen retains the feeling of a resort town, with guests from all over the country wandering the streets in yukata robes after their bath.

couldn't believe my eyes...i have found Lily the cat at the shop ! i don't think i saw her the first time i was there...they added some new things..(so she had to come home with me of course hehe )
also the music box from: "when Marnie was there" is so enchanting...the movie was released last year..i have yet to find the DVD and see it..the trailer shown on youtube is rather lovely.
Regarded as the oldest onsen (hot-spring) in Japan.
The experience of bathing here was amazing.
The architecture was inspiration for the look of the onsen in the anime "Sen No Chihiro" ( Spirited Away ).

During the first years of the Qing Dynasty, the village here housed nine families, thus the village would request "nine portions" every time shipments arrived from town. Later Jiufen ("nine portions" in Chinese) would become the name of the village.
Jiufen was only an isolated village until 1893, when gold was discovered in the area. The resulting gold rush hastened the village's development into a town, and reached its peak during the Japanese rule. Many present features of Jiufen reflect the era under Japanese colonization, with many Japanese inns surviving to this day. During World War II, a POW camp named Kinkaseki was set up in the village, holding Allied soldiers captured in Singapore (including many British) who worked in the nearby gold mines. Gold mining activities declined after World War II, and the mine was shut off in 1971. Jiufen quickly went into decline, and for a while the town was mostly forgotten.
In 1989, Hou Hsiao-hsien's A City of Sadness, the first film to touch on the 228 Incident, a taboo subject in Taiwan, became a big hit in the theatres. As a result Jiufen, where the film was set, revived due to the film's popularity. The nostalgic scenery of Jiufen as seen in the film, as well as appearances in other media, charmed many people into visiting Jiufen. For the beginning of the 1990s, Jiufen experienced a tourist boom that has shaped the town as a tourist attraction. Soon retro-Chinese style cafés, tea houses, and souvenir stores bearing the name "City of Sadness" were built.
Jiufen also became popular in 2001, when its downtown was used as a model in the anime movie Spirited Away.
At present, Jiufen is a renowned tourist attraction representative of Taiwan. It draws many tourists from Taipei during the weekends.

Spirited Away soot ball bento today with nori covered onigiri filled with a tofu carrot patty. Carrot, cucumber, and sweet potato stars. The eyes are made of cheese and nori.
I have visited many times before from here, I looked before issuing this place, but there is no name to map,
There is a stone monument of the unique title of Nichiren Buddhism in the back, but it you do not know well there are many.
It is enshrined in Shinto syncretism as Buddhist temples of some of the old days.
Eight million gods who come out to "Spirited Away" of Hayao miyazaki director are worshiped.
Eight million gods are the Japanese gods whom they cannot count it, and there is a lot.
It is a small portion, but is to land and a river and a pond and a tree and a stone and cursed gods.
Even a movie is talked about, but such a place is gradually disappearing by housing land development.
There is a creek shimenawa in the middle of the torii, and is enshrined as Haq former.

“Always believe in yourself. Do this and no matter where you are, you will have nothing to fear.” — The Cat Returns
Spirited Away (千と千尋の神隠し, Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi, literally, Sen and Chihiro's Spiriting Away) is a 2001 Japanese animated fantasy-adventure film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli. The film follows a sullen ten-year-old girl who is in the process of moving to a new town (presumably in the countryside) with her family, and chronicles her adventures in a world of spirits and monsters.
The film received many awards, including the second Oscar ever awarded for Best Animated Feature, the first anime film to win an Academy Award, and the first (and so far only) non-English speaking animation to win. The film also won the Golden Bear at the 2002 Berlin International Film Festival (tied with Bloody Sunday) and is among the top ten in the BFI list of the 50 films you should see by the age of 14.
Spirited Away overtook Titanic (at the time the top grossing film worldwide) in the Japanese box office to become the highest-grossing film in Japanese history.[1]
