The real-life inspiration for the bathhouse in Hayao Miyazaki's beautiful anime movie "Spirited Away". Built in 1894.

I’ve always found great wonder in the movie Spirited Away. Especially the No Face character Kaonashi. Some sort of spirit that amplifies the desires of the heart; and wanting something greater. The tranquility of a quiet and peaceful life full of the small things that give life meaning.
When I was setting up this shot there was a fat little bee that was bright yellow that kept swooping in; apparently I had placed Kaonashi near a hole at the base of the figure that was the bees home. It landed then crawled quickly into the ground. I did a bit of research and these are solitary digger bees that are common in Arizona and fitting for this shot. I only captured a blurry shot of the bee as I was shooting manual focus. I posted it on IG along with a stereoscopic version of this shot that really pops!

The curled branches of a mesquite tree made for an excellent spot to shoot this tiny Konashi (No Face) from Spirited Away. This one is another gift from Ryan (Short & Plastic) from 2017. Always a fun one to shoot.
We are paying a premium to have a drink at the teahouse opposite the famous Spirited Away view, but its worth it. I just took this shot and will take another after sunset when it gets darker.
Everything in and about Kerala is so magical... But a houseboat trip in the backwaters is an experience out of this world...
Kerala is famous for its backwaters network of rivers, canals and lagoons surrounded by coconut groves, tiny villages and rice fields. My friend Eren and I rented a traditional houseboat called "kettuvallam" in the local language (Malayalam). Starting from Alleppey, we rode through the canals for a whole day and spent the night on the boat off a small village. It was a private 22-hour-long cruise with just the two of us and the crew. Undoubtedly, it has been one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. I don’t even have the words to describe it!
