It was about 10am and there was a bit of commotion up the street. Two men who had their own challenges were having a rowdy moment. I think drink or drugs was the route of their problem. What I liked was these two office worker enjoying the moment like when I was a lad and the word “Bundle” shout went up in the school yard.

Swahili spectators await the start of the popular donkey races organized along the breezy dockside of Lamu Town, a major Swahili settlement on the island of Lamu off Kenya's northern Swahili Coast.

The traditional black niqab or viel and long black bui-bui garment with subtle decorative alterations are often worn by young unmarried Swahili women at festivals and public events, sometimes as a fashion statement if not for protection from flirtatious boys.

Tower Green is a space within the Tower of London, a royal castle in London, where two English Queens consort and several other British nobles were executed by beheading. It was considered more dignified for nobility to be executed away from the gawping spectators, and Queen Anne Boleyn and Lady Jane Grey were among the nobility beheaded here. Queen Victoria asked for information on the exact location at which the executions took place, and had some granite paving laid to mark the spot. However it is unclear whether the location is indeed correct because other sources place it on the current parade ground, between the White Tower and the entrance to the current Waterloo Barracks.

Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress, known as the Tower of London, is a historic castle located on the north bank of the River Thames in central London. It lies within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, separated from the eastern edge of the square mile of the City of London by the open space known as Tower Hill. It was founded towards the end of 1066 as part of the Norman Conquest of England. The White Tower, which gives the entire castle its name, was built by William the Conqueror in 1078, and was a resented symbol of oppression, inflicted upon London by the new ruling elite. The castle was used as a prison from 1100 (Ranulf Flambard) until 1952 (Kray twins), although that was not its primary purpose. A grand palace early in its history, it served as a royal residence. As a whole, the Tower is a complex of several buildings set within two concentric rings of defensive walls and a moat. There were several phases of expansion, mainly under Kings Richard the Lionheart, Henry III, and Edward I in the 12th and 13th centuries. The general layout established by the late 13th century remains despite later activity on the site.

People watching the sunset on the pier

Have shot these Southwold huts at Sunset plenty of times, but the pier has always won for sunrise until last week. Was pleased to see they're still intact after all the bad weather, even though they've shifted around a little. Wasnt the most exciting dawn sky ever, but not the dullest either (that was yesterday)

Some local Highland Cattle, but with the present freezing weather, I suspect quite grateful for the long haired coats!

Long story short…lol...I went to emerg last weekend because hubby thought the toe I thought I broke at the beginning of February did not look good. They took Xrays but the doc thought that there was no sign of breakage even though the knuckle was really swollen and red. Late Wednesday night I got a call that the radiologist read the Xrays and it showed a bone chip fracture. Yesterday after gardening I came in and my whole foot was so unbelievably itchy, swollen and red I went back up to emerg to make sure it was just Athlete's foot from the buddy taping I'd been told to do. Yes, just Athlete's foot…:) But the toe won't heal for another six months and I can't do any weight bearing exercises like running so it's back to the swimming pool for me and I'll put the recumbent bike in the driveway to get some fresh air…lol. One of my goals of turning 60 this year was to take part in the Women's Triathlon they have here every summer. Spectator sport now! There's always next year! :)

There's a lot going in here!

When we were walking on Saturday afternoon we came across a rugby game and stopped and watched for a while The haziness in the background is from the sea but I think it gives the photo a kind of vintage feel -smoke from coal fires and all that....
