Brought new camera out for a spin, and tried to put a different spin on the much-shot Future of Us shell! It's a really nice piece of architecture - hope they keep it around.

Teatro Municipal, Almagro, Ciudad Real, Castilla-La Mancha, España.

The Municipal Theatre – formerly the Principal Theatre – in Almagro is a cosy and beautiful “bonbonniere” housed in a neoclassical building from the end of the 19th century, where the Festival audience can enjoy the classics inside an Italian-style theatre.

Since its inauguration in 1865, it has become the centre of Almagro’s cultural life, hosting plays, zarzuelas, musical concerts and even hosting the first film screenings to the amazement of neophyte spectators. During the first half of the 20th century, it was used as a cinema and by the end of the 1960s its condition was sadly lamentable. Incorporated into the Rehabilitation Programme for 19th Century Spanish Theatres, the architect Miguel Fisac was in charge of its restoration in 1988 with modifications and improvements that culminated in 2006, and since then, it has been one of the most beloved and emblematic stages of the Festival.

Its romantic façade is organised on two floors that do not correspond in height to the interior development. The stalls, with a capacity for 244 spectators, are horseshoe-shaped and are situated on a three-storey structure. The boxes on the first floor are accessed by side stairs that lead to a rest room located above the entrance hall, while on the second floor the public is distributed in a stand, from which they can contemplate the ceiling paintings – not original – that represent the muses of the performing arts: Thalia, goddess of comedy; Melpomene, goddess of tragedy; Thersicore, goddess of Dance and Music and Polyhymnia, goddess of Lyric Poetry.
